Flag of manufacturer

On the basis that Ford is apparently a British company for 2006's win, are we going to change all the Japanese manufacturers too? Prodrive (Subaru) and Ralliart (Mitsubishi) were both British, and TTE (Toyota) was German. --DeLarge 12:30, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

I was wondering how the Ford Escort RS1800 and Focus WRC got to be US made cars? If the answer is, that it is based on the country where Ford head office is located, then would this also be true if Volvo, Aston Martin and Jaguar were to win, we should show the US flag, given that these are now all Ford Brands? --Xagent86 21:13, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

My own understanding is that we refer to the origins of the marques themselves which technically 'win' these titles, in which case the US flag would undeniably used for Ford and the Japanese flags, for Subaru, Toyota et al. In which situation, nobody would deny that any mention of the likes of MG Rover, Aston Martin and Jaguar would merit a Union Jack. I am a Briton myself and it seems a simple enough situation to me. If in any doubt as to any one instance, why not include both potentially valid flags, separated by a '/'? Take a look at the nationality debate raging with regards some of the drivers, and it would appear that a stance of explicit compromise is the only solution. MRacer 17:40, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

Nationality of Ford

Ford is American company, american marque, american brand. Where a team is based or a car physically built doesnt matter. Lets take as an example F1. Mercedes has team and factory for construction of car and engine in the UK, but represents in F1 Germany and when Mercedes wins a race, then German anthem will be played in honour of winning constructor. In WRC the title of world champion is given to a marque = manufacturer, not to a team. That means that even if Ford team holds UK licence it would be irrelevant because a title would not be given to a team but to a marque=manufacturer which is American. This is different from GT1 World Championship for example, where to teams are given titles, not to marques. In 2011 won a title French team Hexis AMR and not british manufacturer=marque Aston Martin, although team Hexis AMR used Aston Martin cars. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.102.153.7 (talk) 17:26, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Manufacturer v Constructor

Why is constructor in the title when it is referred to as the manufacturers championship throughout the article and references? Rally Wonk (talk) 15:31, 25 May 2022 (UTC)
