Can we include records for undrafted players edit

Single-game points for an undrafted player (54) - Fred VanVleet
Points first five career games for an undrafted player (112) - Kendrick Nunn-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 15:11, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
@TonyTheTiger - Fred's record was added to List of NBA regular season records#Individual game records. And Nunn's record was added to List of NBA regular season records#Rookie and age-related records. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 17:54, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

breadth edit

If we are going to have record for first 5 NBA games, we should have record for NBA debut, first 10, 50, 100, all hundreds to 1000.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 18:45, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

We already have records up for NBA debut high in pts, asts, rebs, blks, stls. Good point for 10s, 50s, 100s, 1000s I agree adding but not sure who has those records yet. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 19:43, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I think Jeremy Lin has the record for first five games. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 22:42, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Jeremy Lin's article says he scored a total of 89, 109, and 136 points in his first three, four, and five career starts (not games), respectively; all three totals are the most by any player since the merger between the American Basketball Association (ABA) and the NBA in 1976–77. It's not an all-time record though, I think? - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 22:46, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • I guess we could have records for first start (for full set of stats) and first 5 starts (whatever we can find). (You could note with Lin 3, 4, and 5). Those are important records. They also clarify Linsanity.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 03:55, 27 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

POTM and POTW edit

Do we know the single-season and career records for Player of the month and Player of the Week?-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 22:23, 28 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Plus–minus (sports) edit

I don't know what a box Plus–minus or a real Plus–minus is. We should have just regular plus/minus records. I think we should have career (maybe Tim Duncan), season (Maybe Draymond Green), game, half and quarter. We could have other sequence records, like consecutive positive plus/minus.

Here are some interesting plus/minus stretch records from this year first 4 games with new team +91 Quentin Richards, first 10 games with new team +170 OG Anunoby, first 13 games with new team +239 OG Anunoby also mentions Duncan was exactly +10,000 for his career. Not sure if this is a record but positive p/m for first 23 regular season games with new team OG Anunoby -TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 18:12, 29 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yes, adding regular plus-minus record might make sense. The experts claim "Box" and "Real" give a more accurate representation of player impact. But yes, that could be helpful. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 18:44, 29 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
I intended to create a separate wikipedia article about each of those advanced metrics. Haven't gotten around to it yet but they deserve it. If you look at baseball's sabermetrics (see Baseball statistics), you will notice that there are countless articles about these seemingly esoteric but actually critically important statistical concepts to understanding player and team performance. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 18:50, 29 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Added record for first 4 and 10 games - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 20:54, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

I just stumbled across an article showing Jalen Brunson January 2024 was the second highest single-month plus-minus in NBA history to Scottie Pippen November 1996, +272.[1]

P.S. this stat was first published in box scores in 2007-08 and there are full PMs back to 96-97. More

Single game low Scoot Henderson (-58, 3/29/24) [2]-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 21:44, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Single game high Luc Mbah a Moute (+57 11/22/2017) [3]-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 21:44, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Single season low Dean Garrett (-756, 97-98) [6]-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 21:44, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
When did tracking begin? I am guessing 1996-97 since these are all recent records. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 00:47, 8 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I don't know when tracking began, but full tracking exists back to 96-97, which may mean some teams used the stat before that. It did not make it into official box scores until 2007-08. However, since this is the one in the box scores rather than Box or Real PM, we should at least have these in our list.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 14:56, 8 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Career high Tim Duncan (8910) [7], [8], shows 8905-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 23:42, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Career low Shareef Abdur-Rahim (-2904) [9], [10], shows 2896-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 23:42, 7 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Pts in debut against former team edit

I added a record that was set in November 2019. Not sure if it is still the current record.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 18:28, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Record stands. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 22:16, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Do we want records like fewest minutes for x and y edit

Anthony Davis played 30:34 in a 40-20 game on 10/29/19, which was the least time played in a 40-20.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 19:40, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Yes, great record. That record fits in the "Other" section on List of NBA regular season records#Individual game records. I grouped them by person. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 20:01, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Anthony Davis record has been added.- BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 22:13, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Same game as above edit

Davis set the NBA record with 18 free throws in a quarter in the above 10/29/19 game. He was 18-18 in the half. The record is 20 in a half. Is Davis' 18 without a miss a record for a half? Also, he made his final 21 consecutively. Is this a Laker's single game record for consecutive free throws?-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 19:54, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

If it is a Laker's record, it belongs in Los Angeles Lakers accomplishments and records#In a game - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 20:03, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Probably most FTs without a miss in a quarter and half, but I cannot confirm - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 20:05, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Booker was 20-21 (https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201703240BOS.html)
When Jordan made 20 in a half he was 21-24 on the night (https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/199212300MIA.html), so it is unlikely that he was 20-20 in a half. The question is what about the guys that have made 19 in a half.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 20:13, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'll look into it and let you know if I uncover anything here. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 21:21, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Top 20 most FTs made in a game and Top 20 most FTs without miss in a game. This might help uncover it. Probably somewhere an RS article on most FTS in half without a miss if it is not Anthony Davis? - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 22:22, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Most game comebacks (10+ pts) and leads given up (10+ pts) in a season by a team edit

I can't find who has this record and I have tried quite a bit. The tv and news media commonly report on this information throughout the recent seasons. I recall the Spurs leading in leads given up (10+ pts) this season but I am looking for the all-time records. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 01:34, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Youngest vs fastest edit

Whereas LeBron was the youngest to achieve scoring levels in terms of age, do we know about who was the fastest in terms of games. For some records where we have fastest, do we know the youngest.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 15:05, 8 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

It is in the "Rookie and Age-related" section in the "Multi-game records" subsection
  • Fewest games played to reach 30,000 points
  • Fewest games played to reach 25,000 points
  • 691 by Wilt Chamberlain
  • Fewest games played to reach 20,000 points
  • 499 by Wilt Chamberlain
  • Fewest games played to reach 15,000 points
  • 358 by Wilt Chamberlain
- BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 17:11, 8 May 2024 (UTC) BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 17:11, 8 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • Fewest games to 10k
Added. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 22:25, 8 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
  • I can't find a RS, but it seems like 5k was Wilt in 133 games per [12].-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 14:24, 9 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
It is okay. It is implied that Wilt Chamberlain has every record for "Fewest games played to reach X points" and it is a record that seems unbreakable. If you are unsure about the number of games and RS source is not found, let's keep it as is. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 17:28, 9 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Viability edit

Would this list be any more likely to survive an AFD than the individual player record lists?-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 14:25, 9 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Of course this list would absolutely survive... and such a move should not be suggested... I very much disagree with that question. This article is rated "Top Importance" and was created in Year 2007. The "individual career achievements articles" are harder to manage, are not properly updated and generally do not have sources to support, and include primarily obscure records since no single individual has that many records on their own. For example, check how many records Kevin Garnett has on this article (very few). As such, populating his own career achievement page with relevant records was not viable. I remember you saying you disagreed with those career achievement deletions anyways, so I hope you only say this out of concern that it is a possibility which I believe it is not. See [Records]. NFL records, List of NBA post-season records, List of NBA All-Star Game records, List of WNBA regular season records, List of WNBA post-season records, List of NHL records (individual), List of NHL records (team), List of mixed martial arts records, List of UFC records, Major League Soccer records and statistics, Category:Lists of college basketball statistical leaders by team, Category:Lists of college football statistical leaders by team, List of NCAA football records, Category:NBA accomplishments and records by team, Category:NBA statistical leaders, and so on. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 17:21, 9 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Almost 100% of every record listed on this article is sourced, and up-to-date. - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 17:23, 9 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

I can't find a single professional sports league records article that has been removed so it should not be up for debate. Thank you, - BeFriendlyGoodSir (talk) 17:51, 9 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
OK. I am just alarmed at all the hall of famer record lists that are being deleted.-TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 17:53, 9 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I generally disagreed with the "individual career achievements" consensus for Larry Bird and a few otehr HOFs. I think it is the result of laziness, poorly constructed articles, and lack of participation in the consensus. If it is any consolation prize, the nominator is admitting (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of career achievements by Shaquille O'Neal) that he will not nominate List of career achievements by Michael Jordan and perhaps the same for List of career achievements by LeBron James, List of career achievements by Kobe Bryant, and List of career achievements by Stephen Curry.
