Most of the sports figures listed on this page did not graduate. They are by no definition "alumni" of the University. I suggest an edit to the title of the list to "former attendees" or else a separate section for "people who played sports here" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.69.70.165 (talk) 10:08, 4 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Notability requirements for alumni edit

I wondered if a person needs their own Wikipedia article to establish notability before they may be listed in a school alumni association? I noticed Patrick J. Hanna is listed as an alumni in the "Government, politics, and activism" section and there is no Wikipedi article for them. Thanks!--Fraulein451 (talk) 01:01, 28 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

The listing of random state legislators, district attorneys, mayors, etc. under "Government, politics, and activism" simply because they held those offices with nothing of notable substance attributable to them devalues the listings of those alumni who did/achieved something noteworthy (or were/are notorious) beyond getting elected to office. Apparently there is no bar so low that you can't get on this list if you are an LSU alumnus. By comparison the list of those in the Military category is composed of General Officers. If the Military category applied a similar standard, Alumni down to the rank of Captain (USA, USAF, USMC, or Lieutenant USN) would be listed. Doesn't Wikipedia have an objective standard? Or is it the case that all you need to make it on this list is a "friend" who will be your promoter? As an LSU alumni I'd rather the listings were substantive and meaningful, instead of pitifully insignificant. Carrellk (talk) 12:31, 7 March 2021 (UTC)carrellkReply

Remove Non notable people edit

I removed several people from the alumni section because they do not have their own Wikipedia article which is required to establish notability. I listed the information I removed below in the event someone creates a Wikipedia article for them. Jessie P. Guidry, member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, District 54, 1980-1991 (D); Patrick J. Hanna, Federal Majestrate Judge, 2010–Present; Charles E. Roemer, II, former Louisiana commissioner of administration graduated Phi Beta Kappa from LSU[1]; Gus Weill (Class of 1955), established first political public relations firm in Baton Rouge; author and Louisiana Public Broadcasting host; Carl Stracener, U.S. Army colonel and pediatrician who co-invented the child-resistant bottle cap; Herman Lange, Assistant Athletic Trainer Laborer in 1932 and later became the first black to be a part of LSU football; Godfrey Zaunbrecher, NFL C, Minnesota Vikings; Mykeis Avery]], NFL, [[New England Patriots]; Micah Gibbs, MLB player, Chicago Cubs; Leon Landry, MLB player, Los Angeles Dodgers; Austin Ross, MLB player, Milwaukee Brewers; QuietMan-Willingham, Therrell Quiet Boy; Trez Lee, NBA player, Chicago Bulls
