I'm not really in favor of trivia sections (but the trivia box idea I kind of like)...but this crap was all about specific episodes, and it all specific to this show without being more about something else, so I felt it should be moved rather than deleted. This is one case where a trivia section makes sense. I can also see moving notes about each season's episodes to beneath the individual episode lists once there is more than one or two items per season, if it ever gets that big. I think for this particularly show, this format works extremely well. Now that I think about it, one bit of information that might be beneficial could be the particular factory/company/brand name presented in the segment. It's almost always (cleverly) worked into the footage at some point, and I presume it's in the credits. -Verdatum (talk) 20:25, 28 October 2008 (UTC)

Added corporate info to episode 1 segments. Looks pretty good, but it's sometimes hard to find a current link. For example, Corus Sec (aluminum foil) appears to have been sold to Aleris International, and Trak Sports (snowboard segment) was purchased by K2 Sports. -SimonFlummox (talk) 01:29, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

I had tried to add corporate/manufacturer info, but I have to agree with the removal. Just having the original company name doesn't really add much, and links to external information would have been impossible to maintain, given the frequency of mergers, acquisitions, and liquidations that have happened in manufacturing over the past decade. I added the latest segment details based on TV listings, so there are probably a few things to clean up. @Verdatum, there was nothing to forgive- I believe you were fixing errors I made (anonymously) due to my inexperience. Season 14 Listings

SimonFlummox, you're correct, the initial broadcast order of Series 14 shows is confusing. But the websites for the U.S. Science Channel and Discovery Channel listed the Sep. 18 broadcast as "How It's Made 6, Episode 19" (Ski Goggles, Tower Cranes, Porcelain Figurines, Diesel Engines [Audi]). I was assuming this broadcast was Episode 175 (Series 14, Episode 6), consistent with the way Science Channel numbers the shows.

Also, the US websites list the Oct 02 episode as "How It's Made 6, Episode 14" (Mini GP Motorcycles, Fig Cookies, Tool Boxes, Pipe Bends), which I assume is Episode 170 (Series 14, Episode 1). I didn't see anything about Ice Cream Vans. Any thoughts about how to list the new Series 14 shows in the table? Finqqq (talk) 22:23, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

The odd broadcast order for Series 14 episodes continues. The Oct. 16 broadcast is listed on Science Channel as "How It's Made 6, Episode 21" (Custom Running Shoes, Axes, Racing Karts, Animatronics), which would be Episode 177. The Oct. 23 broadcast is listed as "How It's Made 6, Episode 16" (Metal Golf Clubs, Waffles, Custom Wires and Cables, Train Wheels), which would be Episode 172. They seem to be jumping around quite a bit, but Science Channel has been totally consistent with the "How It's Made" website listings for the first 13 seasons, so I would give them the benefit of the doubt for Season 14 episode numbers.Finqqq (talk) 19:50, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Cleanup

This article is thoroughly disrespectful of Wikipedia's conventions. I clicked on Recreational Vehicle, and was redirected to recreational vehicle, with a properly lower-case initial "v". Cleanup Not Needed, Capitalization of Segment Titles Follows Standard English Usage

Michael, the heading on this page clearly states that it contains the "titles of each episode segment". The segment titles are correctly capitalized according to standard English usage. So "Recreational Vehicles" is properly capitalized since it is the title of the third segment of Episode 28. You could make the argument that each of the segment titles should be enclosed in quotation marks, but this would be extremely tedious and in my opinion, unnecessary, since the page heading alerts the reader that the page lists the segment titles of each episode. The segment titles also have defined meanings, so the link back to the Wikipedia article on recreational vehicles is proper. The way the segment titles are listed on this page is logical and consistent with the "How It's Made" opening credits, so using initial uppercase letters for the titles is proper, given the context.Finqqq (talk) 15:11, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Covnerting to epsiode list

As with any other lsit that is of tv show this needs to convert ot epsiode list and spliting itno season articles. I am looking for regular editors to contruibtue and find a suitable format on the epsiode table that will work, introduciotn of airdate will be something and if ther eporduction code then that to as well as a summary of the epsiode, possibel director and writers. other informaiton liek prodcution compan etc can go intot he summary.--Andrewcrawford (talk - contrib) 22:31, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Any new episodes added to this list need to have a source identified. The latest episode shown on the Science Channel website (https://www.sciencechannel.com/tv-shows/how-its-made/) is Season 22, Episode 18 (Power Steering Pumps, etc.), which is identified in this article as episode 30-02 or 379. The latest episode listed on IMDB (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0835010/episodes) is Season 29, Episode 13 (Petanque Balls, etc.), also listed here as episode 377. The most recent episodes available on the Science Channel Canada website (https://www.sciencechannel.ca/Shows/How-It-s-Made) are from their Season 22, which is Season 18 on our list (although their TV schedule indicates they are airing episodes from later seasons). No source has been identified that lists any episodes later than number 379. However, anonymous IP user(s) insist on adding more recent episodes to the list without a source, including in some cases episodes that are purported to be aired in 2019 and later years! Given this vandalism, it is essential that any new episode added to the article MUST be accompanied by a citation to a reliable source at which the information can be verified.
