Just a note, both the original series and Kai are kept in one article. I do like this presentation since it is one series, but to make sure, the name of the second season (-kai)'s name should redirect here right? Tyciol 15:22, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

No, it should stay redirected to the main aritcle, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, because originally Kai was the second part of the game series; the fact that the second season also carries this trend is just a marketting ploy (as the final 2 arcs in the original series were also apart of the Kai series of the games).--十八 02:13, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Summaries

The confusion is understandable, we don't actually see either of these happen but the plot strongly implies they did. There would be holes if these events did not actually occur. Then again, we thought lots of things happened which later didn't. Tyciol (talk) 00:31, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Nekogoroshi

I think we should incorporate this somewhere into the list, but I'm not sure exactly where. I'm thinking directly following the first season, but preceding Kai. The thing is, I'm not sure whether to give it its own section or just tack it on as 'episode 27' or something like that. Thoughts? Tyciol (talk) 00:29, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Since it's not technically part of either season 1, or Kai, a separate section makes the most sense. I don't even think it had an episode number.--十八 01:47, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

It occurs before the second season given it opens and closes with the themes from the first season.

Murder without Source

The introduction mentions a murder occurring on September 18, 2007 in Kyoto Japan that closely resembles occurrences in Episode 12. It is unsourced, and I cannot find a source myself.

This source, however, implies that the murder was inspired by the final episode of School Days, and not Higurashi.

2020 Remake: Number of Episodes, Start/End Dates

Based on a tweet from what appears to be the official (?) Higurashi anime Twitter account, it seems to be the case that the remake will be a 2-cour. Proposal to move this page again to 'List of Higurashi When They Cry episodes'

There was an attempt back in 2008 to move this page to 'List of Higurashi When They Cry episodes' before Umineko When They Cry anime aired. After Umineko When They Cry aired, I think this page should be moved again to 'List of Higurashi When They Cry episodes' so to differentiate it with 'List of Umineko When They Cry episodes' page.
