Lauren Carpenter → Lauren Turner – Turner is her surname on the show now. Frequent editors of Neighbours articles know this. There are plenty of reliable sources out there that mention this name (including the show's official website and closing credits). 0z (talk) 01:48, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

Oppose. Recentism. She has long been known as Lauren Carpenter - she has been known as Lauren Turner for five minutes. There are plenty of sources with the name Carpenter.Rain the 1 01:54, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

Oppose. I would think Carpenter is her WP:COMMONNAME. She returned to the show this February as Turner, but has been known as Carpenter since her introduction way back in 1993. All her major storylines occurred under this surname. Here's a hits box for comparison though:

When you consider the number of publications that reported on the character during her original stint compared to now - Carpenter is used more. If the internet age had been as it is now back then - there probably would be many more articles at hand. She was known as Carpenter when the show was watched by more people and all of her notable storylines occurred during that time.Rain the 1 17:54, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

Surname

As Lauren has now been on the show for a longer period with her married surname of Turner than her maiden name of Carpenter is this not justification enough to rename the article page? Gmanuk2007 (talk) 18:32, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

Requested move on 19 August 2022

Lauren Carpenter → Lauren Turner (Neighbours) – I propose that this page be moved to "Lauren Turner (Neighbours)" and that this page no longer goes under the surname "Carpenter". In this discussion, it was determined the page would not be moved, most likely due to the fact that Carpenter was the more prominent of the two last names, but I would disagree with that now. Here is a table of searches I have set up, similar to last discussion's.

As per these searches, we can see that Lauren Turner is the character's more common name. Another reason for the past request's failure may have been because all her major storylines occurred in her original stint on the serial, but it could be that this has now changed. Additionally, Lauren Carpenter made appearances for only two years, while Lauren Turner made appearances for seven years, six of which were consecutive. I am contacting editors User:U-Mos, User:DaniloDaysOfOurLives, User:JuneGloom07, User:Raintheone and User:Soaper1234 to ask for their opinion if possible. - Therealscorp1an (talk) 07:00, 19 August 2022 (UTC)

• Unsure - I am unsure. If you type Lauren Carpenter in Google seems to know your requesting this fictional character. The hits for Lauren Turner bring up lots of other Lauren Turners. I find that odd - there is also a singer named Lauren Turner which is why you would have to introduce "(Neighbours)" to the title. Lauren Carpenter → Lauren Turner – Formalising stale request from Therealscorp1an to allow a decision to be made. I support due to the data above, and the character being on-screen under her original surname for a little over a year, and as Turner for 4 years as a regular and 5 subsequent years of occasional guest appearances (where she retained Turner as her surname despite remarrying). Lauren Turner (the singer) has recently been redirected to an American Idol season article, so the primary namespace is available with a hatnote to guide anyone searching for the singer. • I am still unsure because it is not as simple as stating she was known as Carpenter for only one year. She was known as Lauren Carpenter for 20 years from the real world perspective and Lauren Turner for 10 years - some of the time which she was still referred to as Carpenter. I am referring to magazine articles, websites and news stories. Since this discussion is open for 7 days, I hope more people will comment this time. • Strong oppose – whilst I completely understand the rational, I don't think it's as simple as that. As RT1 mentioned in the previous discussion, looking up "Lauren Turner" comes up with many other people. Also, as RT1 says, Lauren was known as "Lauren Carpenter" for 19 years between her stints (1994–2013) – whilst it had been mentioned that she had married Matt, the surname "Turner" was not invented until 2012, when it was announced she was returning and her children and husband would be introduced. Additionally, since she has now married Brad, many people are likely looking up "Lauren Willis" or "Lauren Carpenter Willis" incorrectly (I know she has not been credited as either but it is likely), as Lauren and Matt's *on screen* marriage only lasted 2 years, and Lauren was *initially* most known for A.) There's certainly a reasonable counter-argument here, but I would say that a) now there is no need to disambiguate within Wikipedia, the fact that googling "Lauren Turner" returns other figures is not relevant to naming WP:CRITERIA, in the event that Turner is this character's more common name, so the latter is what we should be discussing; and b) I'm not convinced that the twenty off-screen years hold that much weight - how much were sources discussing a really very short-lived (albeit story intensive) character in the decades after her exit, in comparison to her on-screen years in the Internet age? Currently the article only indicates a couple of retrospective profiles in the late 90s/2000s, not enough to justify that she'd still be better known as Carpenter today in my view.
