In defense of improvements to section "Muhammad drawings controversy"

In 2007 Vilks caused an international controversy when he depicted Muhammad as a roundabout dog in three drawings, designated to be shown at an art exhibition at Tällerud, in July of the same year. Shortly before its opening the organizers cancelled their invitation with reference to serious security concerns, and despite Vilks' effort no other Swedish art gallery offered to exhibit his drawings.

Eventually, on 18 August, one of his drawings was published in the Örebro-based regional newspaper, Nerikes Allehanda, as part of an editorial on self-censorship and freedom of religion.

Who would consider the following an improvement over the previous?

In 2007 Vilks was embroiled^[1] in an international controversy after he made a series of drawings depicting the Islamic prophet Muhammad ^[2] as a roundabout dog. The drawings^[3]were initially intended to be shown at a local art exhibition at Tällerud, just outside Karlstad, in Värmland, Sweden^ in July 2007^ but were removed from the exhibition by the organisers, citing security concerns and fear of violence from Muslims^ , shortly before^ its opening.

Following the first refusal, Vilks submitted the drawings to several other art galleries in Sweden, including the distinguished Gerlesborg School of Fine Art in Bohuslän where he is a frequent lecturer, but all declined to show the drawings for the same reason. The controversy gained international attention after the Örebro-based regional newspaper, Nerikes Allehanda, published one of the drawings on 18 August to illustrate an editorial on self-censorship and freedom of religion.

Death

Vilks has died. As the story can change more times I hope we can update the article accordingly.94.234.42.26 (talk) 22:46, 3 October 2021 (UTC)

Wikipedia should try hard to not allow modifications that are not based on hard facts. You can already find massive speculation elsewhere. I recommend to very critically verify and review statements pertaining to the crash itself. Right now not all details are mentioned, e. g. how many people were in each car (e. g. 3 or 4 in the crashed car). Some other sites claim 4, the article here mentions 3 right now. It would be useful if wikipedia could verify the correct number and mention it, along with links. (To explain this: who was driving the car, for instance? What if the driver had a heart attack and caused this?
