Merger edit

The newly created Lakeside Raceway article needs to be merged into this one, with the combined contents moved to the circuit's present operating name, Lakeside Park. --Falcadore (talk) 03:22, 23 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

“How many other championships would you like to include?” edit

In response to the above question which was asked in a recent Edit Summary, there are a number of events which I feel are worthy of inclusion:

  • 1963 International 100
  • 1964 Governor’s Trophy
  • 1965 International 99
  • 1965 Australian Tourist Trophy
  • 1965 Governor’s Trophy
  • 1966 Governor’s Trophy
  • 1967 Governor’s Trophy
  • 1968 Governor’s Trophy
  • 1970 Governor’s Trophy
  • 1970 Australian Formula 2 Championship
  • 1971 Governor’s Trophy

I would consider that each of these was a major event, not only on the Lakeside schedule but on the national motor sport calendar for the given year. I’m not sure that the same can be said for the AGTC rounds of 1982 to 1985. GTHO (talk) 22:29, 26 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

At which point does the article become List of Lakeside results? --Falcadore (talk) 22:33, 26 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
I think it became that when the 1970 to 1997 ATCC round results were added! That doesn’t particularly bother me but I do feel that the table should differentiate between ATCC races which were stand alone title events (1964 & 1967) and those that were merely rounds of an ATCC series. And I do think that the early history of the track is poorly represented in the table. GTHO (talk) 02:26, 30 March 2010 (UTC)Reply
Tasman/AGP would represent the circuits biggest events for the year in the 1960s, ATCC the circuit's biggest events for the year after the 60's. Events like Governor's Trophy and Tourist Trophy would surely be better covered by their own articles? --Falcadore (talk) 02:48, 30 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

1980s photo edit

I have recently uploaded this photo which is now on this page to WikiCommons. The only thing that the original author remembers is that it was taken sometime in the 1980s. I was thinking that if anyone could possibly tell from the car and its number what year or what event it was, that if they could update the caption, image description and image category with something more specific then that would be great. - Shiftchange (talk) 06:04, 11 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Well it's a 1970's Torana, but it's a Sports Sedan so it could come from almost any year. Been told its a car built by the Holden Dealer Team no less and was raced by Geoff Russell and later Des Wall but may have been taken anywhere between 1975 and 1985. Will attempt to narrow it down further. --Falcadore (talk) 21:04, 13 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Believe it may be from 1981 Australian Sports Sedan Championship. --Falcadore (talk) 00:20, 14 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the investigation. - Shiftchange (talk) 01:45, 14 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
