Antoon Postma should be credited edit

Dr. Antoon Postma, a Dutch Catholic missionary in the Philippines, is the scholar who deciphered the LCI. His name should be mentioned in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.120.32.84 (talk) 22:29, 25 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I made an internal link out of Dr. Postma's name above. Obviously, I concur with 82.120.32.84's assertion that Postma should be credited. Alternativity (talk) 10:09, 5 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Is LCI tagalog or not edit

corresponding to 900 CE. It contains many words from Sanskrit, old Javanese, old Malay and old Tagalog.

I don't think tagalog language even existed in 900 ad it might had been a dialect of proto-central philippine.---Kasumi-genx (talk)
There are cognates with Tagalog words, as one would expect of any Austronesian languages. But no, it's not Tagalog. --Chris S. (talk) 22:00, 22 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Pulilan edit

Currently this links to a municipality. Perhaps the alternate translation of Laguna de Bay might also be added. --Ancheta Wis (talk) 14:33, 30 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

How Much ? edit

Can the amount forgiven be calculated ? If so, how much in modern terms was it, in terms of American dollars or average salaries ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.68.64.77 (talk) 12:06, 21 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Tagalog Translations need to be cited, otherwise they're violations of the Wikipedia Policy on Original Research edit

I won't comment here on whether it's appropriate to add a full Tagalog translation of the text in the English Wikipedia; that's not an aspect of English Wikipedia that I have much expertise about.

However, the various Tagalog translations that have been added here over the years all seem to violate the Wikipedia Policy on Original Research and have been removed for that reason. Translation has the potential to add or remove meaning from the original LCI text, so it's important that the Tagalog translation provided be a translation done by an expert ("reliable source"), and not simply be the Original Research of a wikipedia editor.

The way I see it, there are two ways to address this WP:OR problem:

  • One is to use a translation from a reliable source such as a journal article. If someone has access to the Tiongson translation, which I have been looking for for quite a while now, then I think that translation can be added here provided it's properly cited.
  • Second, if it turns out that one of the old translations provided is an expert translation from the original, it simply needs to be cited properly. Based on a perusal of the source currently cited, the translation doesn't actually seem to be there. Perhaps the editor who added it actually got it from a different source? All that's needed is a verifiable citation to adress the OR issue.

As I said earlier, others can discuss whether the Tagalog translation belongs in the English or Tagalog Wikipedia. My concern here is WP:Verifiability and WP:No Original Research- Alternativity (talk) 14:20, 21 October 2017 (UTC)Reply

Old Tagalog edit

I removed the Old Tagalog mentioned in the introduction. The language is clearly Old Malay, with a lot of Sanskrit loans and some Sumatran vocabulary ("sanak", "sadanya"). If there are reliable expert sources for Old Tagalog words, please provide them. I really doubt there are any Tagalog words in this manuscript (maybe there are cognates, but that's probably all they are). Martijn →!?← 18:42, 26 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hence, the place where the copperplate was discovered should be now considered environmentally critical area. You are hereby tasked to produce any evidence like news clips, online article, or photo or any document to prove that the area where the copperplate was discovered is already protected by the government.
