Keren Hayesod and United Israel Appeal, Inc. should not be merged. They are two distinct and different organizations. Keren Hayesod is an orgaization that operates in every country - other than the US. Keren Hayesod is incorporated in Jerusalem Israel. United Israel Appeal, Inc. is incorporated in New York. They have no interlocking board members. They have no relationship to each other. Keren Hayesod translates from Hebrew into "The Foundation Fund" in English. There are organizations outside of the United States that call themselves United Israel aappeal who are members of Keren Hayesod. United Israel Appeal, Inc. is strictly an American organization founded in 1927

- The major purpose of United Israel Appeal, Inc. in NY (UIA) is to facilitate fundraising for Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI). Annual IRS 990 forms of UIA (e.g. 2020) do not mention Keren HaYesod which is a financial arm of JAFI, but clearly state that UIA recommends to Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) appointments (donations) to specific projects of JAFI. Indeed UIA and Keren HaYesod of JAFI did not merge. It was UIA and JFNA that went through slight name changes and merged in 1999 according to the United Jewish Appeal entry which reads "The United Jewish Appeal (UJA) was a Jewish philanthropic umbrella organization that existed from its creation in 1939 until it was folded into the United Jewish Communities, which was formed from the 1999 merger of United Jewish Appeal (UJA), Council of Jewish Federations and United Israel Appeal, Inc. In 2009, United Jewish Communities changed its name to The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA)."
