College athletics loose ends edit

Did some research and rework on the College career section, but there are a couple of things I wasn't able to figure out:

  • When was Willard named an Academic All-American? A 2013 retrospective says he was, but not when, and I wasn't able to find contemporary reporting. I did discover that he was named Academic All-ACC (p. 18, left side) in 1962, but that's a conference-level honor and seems like it's less relevant than his unqualified All-ACCs in '63 and '64.
  • Assuming he was in fact an Academic All-American, was Willard the first Academic All-American at UNC, and if so was he honored with a plaque at Kenan Stadium in 2013? The previous version of the section thought so.
  • What was his college baseball career like beyond the 525-foot home run? It seems like he was pretty good (I mean, he had the Red Sox coming after him) but there's not a whole lot out there about it.
