Talk:Kara Sea

Dee Dee Dee edit

Hey, my friend's name is Kara! wow, she has her own sea! Awesome!

No. For a sea to be anyone's, it would need a possessive in the title. Thus, "Kara's Sea". Also, Kara is the name of many things and people beyond your friend. Oh and by the way, these talk pages are for idiotic comments like "Ohh a Sea named after my friend. Lol!" Honestly... ACS (Wikipedian); Talk to the Ace. See what I've edited. 15:41, 20 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

This is just speculation, but it might be related to the Turkic word "kara" (meaning black), it might be named by the Turkic peoples living nearby. There is already a Black Sea (Turkish: Karadeniz) to the north of Turkey. --deniz 20:21, 9 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I have a friend named Kara. I guess they own the sea together. Joint Tenants in Common. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.79.211.92 (talk) 19:16, 9 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

What's the etymology of "Kara Sea" ? edit

Böri (talk) 12:15, 2 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

The Crimean and Caucasian Turks deported there named it after their Black Sea (Kara means Black in Turkic languages.)96.55.183.132 (talk) 07:05, 29 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

I know... I'm a Turk. I asked because of that. I asked "Is it a Turkish name?" Böri (talk) 11:18, 14 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Kara Sea edit

When I was a young girl I enjoyed looking on the globe and seeing the Kara Sea...I know I don't own it or anything...but even my classmates would ask me how I got a Sea named after me...just a pleasant childhood memory!--Karaisabroncofan (talk) 10:14, 9 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Citation required for fairly inflammatory statement edit

'At a seminar in February 2012 it was revealed that the reactors on board the submarine could re-achieve criticality and explode'. Can someone post a citation that goes with this statement? I have searched and all I could find was this exact same statement repeated over and over again in various articles. It apparently came from the Bellona website, which does not provide documentation.

The reason why this is interesting is I would like to discover how a naval nuclear reactor can explode. Are we talking building up heat and having a subsequent steam explosion? As there is no way for a nuclear reactor to explode like a nuclear weapon, I would like to know what is meant by this statement.

Barring a citation, this statement needs to be removed.
