THE FOLLOWING IS INCORRECT: With the aid of Union Bank president Jerry Green, KCTE purchased the 50,000-watt WHB in 1999 and moved its sports operations onto the 810 frequency.
WHAT HAPPENED, SOMEWHAT MORE PRECISELY, BUT INCOMPLETE AND WITH QUESTIONS STILL: The company first took over the 810 frequency, which had a different call sign (KCMO) at the time (710 was WHB). It later made a deal for the WHB name, which may have included additional broadcast time privleges or a higher power or both.
