July 18 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry storming Fort Wagner 1290 – King Edward I issued an edict to expel all Jews from England. 1723 – Johann Sebastian Bach directed the first performance of his cantata Erforsche mich, Gott, und erfahre mein Herz in Leipzig. 1863 – American Civil War: Led by Colonel Robert Gould Shaw, the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment, one of the first African-American military units in the Union Army, spearheaded an assault (pictured) on Fort Wagner, South Carolina. 1949 – Francisco Javier Arana, the chief of the Guatemalan armed forces, was killed in a shootout with supporters of President Juan José Arévalo. 2019 – An arson attack at the studio of Kyoto Animation in Japan led to the deaths of 36 people. Barthélemy Faujas de Saint - Error with years of birth/death

The page currently has: "1819 - Barthélemy Faujas de Saint, French geologist (b. 1741)" under the births section. So why does it say b. 1741?! If no one responds by 1/27/2006, I think I'll try to do some reseearch on her (there's no wikipedia article), otherwise, I'm deleting this line. Reuvenk 23:25, 22 January 2006 (UTC)

Conflict with article?

Should the bit about the Great Fire of Rome state "while Roman Emperor Nero reportedly played his lyre and sang as he watched the blaze from a safe distance" when the article contradicts that? While "reportedly" is used, the report in question is, well, questionable, as the article explains. PoptartKing 01:59, 18 July 2006 (UTC)

TWA flight 800

Why is TWA Flight 800 listed on both July 17 and July 18 when the explosion and crash happened on July 17 local time? I think that it would be prudent to have only 1 listing of this (on July 17). The UTC time can still be there, for reference. Just a thought... Fitzharry 13:42, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

Machine Gun Kelly

Continuing the ongoing effort to reduce the size of the Births and Deaths sections to make them manageable, I've removed some celebrities with few or no articles in other wikipedias, moving the entries to the appropriate Year in Topic article if they were not already present. Machine Gun Kelly (again)

The Births list includes "1895 – Machine Gun Kelly, American gangster (d. 1954)" but the main article says that he was born on 17 July. He died on 18 July, as correctly listed in the Deaths section. JezGrove (talk) 13:04, 18 July 2023 (UTC)
