Kinda new to this - but here's some more stuff on John Poff. Grew up in Findlay, Ohio where he played high school baseball and basketball. Went to Duke where he played first base and was a walk-on on the basketball team in 1970-71, graduated in 1974. Was originally in the Milwaukee Brewers organization, traded to Phillies organization in mid-70s, and played mostly in Oklahoma City in the minors besides his few cups of coffee in the bigs. Later settled in New Mexico where he trained and then worked as an acupuncturist. Moved to northern Michigan (not UP), where he teaches high school English and Performing Arts and is a high school golf coach.
