Boxing wins edit

At 02:22 on 6 August 2006, 68.72.116.246 changed the record from 82 to 83 wins. Which is correct? St.isaac 07:25, 6 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

The site which this article cites as a reference says 83, so I guess that's correct. ~~Riphal

World War II edit

Anyone know what he was doing during WWII, boxing or in the war somewhere? It makes no mention of it on the page other than going pro in 1941. Might be interesting to add, seeing as he was 20 when the war started, the perfect age for a draftee...--Fxer 07:33, 15 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

He was never drafted but a few other boxers were but Jake was never called in. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.185.41.21 (talk) 01:24, 28 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

How he got his start edit

I should probably review his autobiography before I comment on this, as I haven't read it in a while, but I don't remember it saying that he got his start in boxing from his father making him fight for money as a kid. As I recall, he picked up the sport at the urging of a priest in a penitentiary for youth. Am I thinking of a different boxer? In fact, I believe he met Rocky Graziano at this penitentiary.

Stance: Puncher? edit

What exactly does that mean? a) It's not a stance, and b) Jake LaMotta wasn't a puncher, he had a low KO percentage. Holymolytree2 (talk) 16:51, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Removed comparison to Alan Glazen edit

I can't find a reference and it sounds like original research. Feel free to re-add if anyone can find a reference from a notable source. Jlahorn (talk) 15:33, 15 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Seriously, Toodles Mcgee neighborhood? edit

This sounds like a troll that slipped through the cracks. The top references on google to "toodles mcgee" come from this page [and people that copy it] as well as various random individual online profiles with that name. search for "toodles mcgee" -lamotta +bronx returns no results. I've never heard of this neighborhood, and I grew up in the area. I suggest that this be removed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.118.4.2 (talk) 22:03, 9 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Vanity Fair article edit

In the latest issue (March 2010) of Vanity Fair the story about how the movie was made is told in depth. For example, the whole thing was Robert De Niro's idea and he eventually made Martin Scorsese feel as passionate about LaMotta's life story as he did. Somebody please read the article and update the Wikipedia piece. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.114.159.60 (talk) 22:06, 9 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Page needs cleanup edit

The bottom of the page in the section for "Italian American Sports Hall of Fame" it stretches instead of wrapping. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.176.126.64 (talk) 20:10, 4 August 2012 (UTC)Reply

The Movie Section edit

In the section in Raging Bull, it talks about how he is depicted as violent and self-destructive but only mentions the one fight he has with his brother. In the film he repeatedly beats two of his wives, one in front of their children. The omission of this suggests a sexist bias in the writing of this article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.183.158.116 (talk) 21:09, 21 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Table with fights edit

Can someone add a table with his fights, such as is available on other fighter's pages like Muhamad Ali? 2A02:8388:1600:C80:BE5F:F4FF:FECD:7CB2 (talk) 16:28, 20 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Vicky & personal life? edit

Most celebrity bios here have at least a small section regarding personal life, whereas this on doesn't even so much as mention Vicky LaMotta, sufficiently notable to have her own article. Some reason for that, or just nobody got around to it? —KGF0 ( T | C ) 08:52, 7 October 2016 (UTC) KGF0 ( T | C ) 08:52, 7 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Year of birth edit

Some obituaries have begun to appear online, but they all seem divided as to how old LaMotta was. Some, like TMZ, say 95 and some, like NY Daily News, say 96. Does anyone out there know if he was born in 1921 or 1922?194.69.14.78 (talk) 14:58, 20 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

According to the original source, his daughters facebook post he was born in 1922. DrKilleMoff (talk) 16:06, 20 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
