Link problems edit
A number of the links in the list of films below point to films, tv shows, and even musical artists that have nothing to do with the films in question. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 208.127.58.208 (talk) 16:23, 27 March 2007 (UTC).
Origin of name edit
Oakie's IMDB biography states his mother was actress Evelyn Oakie. I'd assume that he took his stage name from her, rather than from the state of Oklahoma. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mayerson (talk • contribs) 19:18, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Deaf? edit
I don't want to put it in the body of the article without more information, but according to Jules Dassin in an interview on Criterion's Thieves' Highway dvd, Oakie was entirely deaf. It seems like a noteworthy fact, but I don't know if it's verified anywhere else. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.240.223.79 (talk) 21:18, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Oakie was not "Entirely" deaf, but he had limited hearing & he would read the lips of his co actors to catch any ad-libs or departures from the script.Saxophobia (talk) 17:48, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

Autograph this! edit
Oakie was famously both hot-tempered and very averse to signing autographs: approach him and ask, and you were apt to get his offer of a knuckle sandwich instead. Needs a cit, which I cannot supply, but it was a major quirk that would seem to meet requirements for notability. 66.249.172.94 (talk) 21:13, 27 February 2017 (UTC)
