This article was a little weak on source and one it did have was itself a Wiki (against policy for obvious reasons, see WP:SPS). I've removed the source but feel free to put back content from a viable source. I've also added 5 additional sources give some examples of where this organisation have been mentioned in the media and in books. There are more references in reports of other organisations as well as in academic websites and articles... someone may wish to add these. Impact is also probably not the best heading. Hopefully someone can adjust the article a bit so it includes more information about the organisation and what has been published about it. Oboler (talk) 16:19, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

It is very important to determine whether this organization is affiliated with Israel or is independent in order to assess it's worth as a reliable source on the subject of Palestinian educational texts. To determine whether such an affiliation exists I have been trying to find information on CMIP/IMPACT:SE's location, staff, leadership, funding and structure. This information has been very difficult to uncover. And why has it changed its name after only a few years of existence?

The Sourcewatch article was the only clear statement I could find on CMIP/IMPACT:SE's relationship with Israel. Sourcewatch is not just a wiki; it is edited by paid researchers. It is also fairly notable. Regardless, I will pursue the issue of Sourcewatch's reliability at WP:RSN.

Given the fact that CMIP/IMPACT:SE is so secretive about its staff, location and leadership I am drawn to conclude that it is being intentionally deceptive and opaque about its details in order to maintain a facade of independence to lend its research an undeserved credence. One revealing detail I have uncoverd is that its director of research from 1998-2000 was Itamar Marcus, the former director of pro-Israel media watchdog Palestinian Media Watch, who also happens to live on an Israeli settlement. Unless he is telecommuting, it appears likely that the organization is located in Israel.

If IMPACT:SE is an independent research institute, then it should come clean on its details and funding. Wikipedia should not be gamed by organizations like this that are obviously partisan but shruod their operations in secrecy. I've self-reverted for now because I do not have the time to research my edits adequately, but I intend to return to this article soon. Factsontheground (talk) 16:48, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

It's advisory board ([1]) apparently includes Daniel Pipes, an extremely controversial and partisan figure on issues relating to the Middle East. It also contains 3 Israeli academics but not a single Palestinian. Factsontheground (talk) 17:00, 30 July 2009 (UTC)

The above looks pretty partisan i.e. very much outside NPOV. What do you mean by "affiliated with Israel"? Such a comment would only make sense (and be fair) if you meant it was funded by the Israeli government. If you simply mean it employs Israelis or has an office in Israel, then (if that is the case, and there are sources on this) by all means say it is "based in Israel" or an "Israeli NGO" etc. To be neutral you need to leave the reader to draw their own conclusions based on as much verifiable information as possible. What makes the research good or bad is the quality of the research. If you have an issue with the research itself, then you need sources that disagree. It is not enough to poison the well.
