Request edit on 21 October 2014 edit

Simply trying to improve Wiki community, sources verify that this page is very much incomplete. An earlier user's attempt to revise was flagged for copyright infringement. I am referring to the community of admins and expert editors for assisntance in lifting this and posting and accurate article. Please see edit history, most recent edit attempt is described as "removed copyright material" please see that revision for possible reinstatement. If that too does not meet requirements for whatever reason: I have proactively included a list of sources that verify information as requested of me in talk page instructions. Reliable sources do support the proposed changes: http://www.americascup.com/en/news/111_Americas-Cup-appoints-Dr-Harvey-Schiller-as-Commercial-Commissioner.html http://www.diversifiedsearch.com/PracticeArea/..%5CBiographies/BioTemplate.aspx?ID=14 http://www.citadeldirectorsinstitute.com/panelists/harvey-w-schiller http://www.deseretnews.com/article/67873/SCHILLER-LEAVES-SEC-FOR-USOC-FOR-THE-2ND-TIME-IN-AS-MANY-YEARS.html?pg=all http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Dr.+Harvey+W.+Schiller+Appointed+Chairman+and+CEO+of+YankeeNets,+A...-a059448451 http://www.nccp.baseball.ca/eng_news_story.cfm?NewsID=1026 http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Journal/Issues/2013/03/11/Champions/Harvey-Schiller.aspx http://www.citadel.edu/root/commencement_honorarydegrees_corps2012 http://www.asama.org/awards-of-sport/honorary-doctorates 108.231.30.51 (talk) 16:07, 21 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

First, Ts2803, thank you for using the talk page and {{request edit}}, and for presenting your requests in such a clear way; that is a big help. I've taken the liberty of numbering the items to make it easier to refer to them. There's a lot of stuff here, and I can't look at all of it right away (though someone else may do so), but I'll add the first and last items on your list, 1 and 12, at once.
Some of the sources you propose may not meet our rather strict requirements for reliability, which you can read about here; the teamusa source, in particular, which looks and reads like a press handout and is from a source apparently connected with Schiller, is unlikely to be acceptable. Is there a chance you could find better sources - reports in national newspapers or in mainstream magazines (Forbes, Business Week), for example?
Some of what you ask to have added is already in the article, such as it is - numbers 6 and 7, and parts of 9 and 10, are already covered. Justlettersandnumbers ([[User

Secondary Request edit

Thank you justlettersandnumbers thank you for the guidance and edits. as you advised I have provided reliable sources, including from magazines you mentioned, Forbes, Buisness Week, etc. Sports Business Daily, also a source, is the leading trade publication. Please see below

1. U.S. Air Force Brigadier General

2. Former Executive Director/Secretary General of the United States Olympic Committee

3. Please add that Schiller is currently Vice Chair of Diversified Search Odgers Berndtson

I have used strikeouts to indicate sources that are not acceptable. These are sources that are merely publishing information from a database of profiles and often use standard boilerplate information. However, there is one remaining acceptable source for each item. Please use those and go ahead and add the job titles and years served, being cautious to avoid any promotion or editorialized language. CorporateM (Talk) 20:32, 21 January 2015 (UTC)Reply
I have added a completely rewritten and more detailed bio to the page with new references that should be adequate. Request that editors remove previous references not used as well as the message box at the top.2601:149:8100:B951:9963:681A:552A:73A3 (talk) 02:42, 11 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
Not really, I'm afraid. An article that starts "X is a prominent ..." and later mentions "... a leading provider of life and financial management products ..." is not very likely to conform to our policy on neutrality. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 11:28, 11 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
so his job history doesn't qualify as 'prominent'?? and you single out one statement as 'violating neutrality', then use that as justification to delete my entire well referenced rewrite? That's uncalled for. The rewrite is clearly much more complete and better referenced than the original so just remove the words that offend you rather than just deleting an entire article inappropriately. And who deleted the infobox and picture and why?2601:149:8100:B951:9963:681A:552A:73A3 (talk) 23:27, 11 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
OK, a few things:
  • Neutrality is one of the five pillars of this project, which is an encyclopaedia and so is written in a neutral and encyclopaedic tone or style; there are plenty of places where promotional and non-neutral writing is acceptable, but this isn't one of them
  • the infobox is still there; the photo has been deleted on Commons for lack of the necessary permissions
  • if, as appears likely, you have some personal or professional connection to Schiller, you have a conflict of interest: you should refrain from editing the article, and instead request improvements or corrections here on this page, the talk-page; if you are editing as part of a paid commission or employment, you must disclose who is paying you, and on whose behalf.
Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 09:32, 12 December 2018 (UTC)Reply
aside from the 2 offending words that were removed this rewrite seems pretty neutral and presents just referenced facts so there is no reason to delete it. The original infobox, which I did not add, was edited down to just name and other info such as military career was removed for no reason. I do not know the man and have never met him though I did once hear a graduation speech he gave; it is not appropriate to be making unfounded allegations like 'conflict of interest' or use that as an excuse to disallow revisions. Your job as an editor is to work constructively with posters to improve articles not get heavy handed and delete stuff you don't like, if necessary we can take this to the administrative board for review. In the meantime I request another editor be assigned to this article. I have attempted to clean up some of the "excessive citations", quite a few have mysteriously appeared that I did not add and strangely more reference numbers are present than references. I deleted some unnecessary ones but apparently you cant remove references by just deleting them, a wiki editor will have to do it.2601:149:8100:B951:31A0:3C34:1450:CF (talk) 15:35, 1 January 2019 (UTC)Reply
