Seems to have Haplogroup J (Y-DNA) connection Sasha l (talk) 11:35, 28 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

I'm not so sure, there is a presence of both in for example Italy, but there seems to be certain haplotypes distinct to Sweden for example as well. Nagelfar (talk) 09:03, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Spread of mt group J through Europe edit

I wonder if the European J1 came from the likes of the Alans. In Talk:Yazdgerd III I mention how I found reference to mt haplogroup J1a belonging to one of the Persian king Yazdgerds. I know most academics are now trying to put the origin of most haploid DNA groups far back into pre-history for everywhere they occur today; though we know obviously from the movement to the new world and the like that this couldn't be possible universally. I'm Iranian/Persian and I just recently found out that I'm a J1 and what you said sounds interesting, however the link you posted is not working, maybe you could post updated link? --Ddd0dd (talk) 00:57, 11 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Diversity. edit

It seems that if 3 of the largest subclades are found in Europe only, 3 found in Europe and the near east both, and 1 found in the near east only, that the genetic diversity of mthaplogroup J is then greater in Europe and more likely has its origins there, even if it is 1% more frequent in the middle east (out of less subclades), of course, more testing needs to be done.
