Russian Quote(?) in Summary edit

There seems to be (what I can only surmise must be) a quote in Russian in the first paragraph of the summary section of this article. Would someone do us the honors of translating it into the local language of this Wikipedia?Jtmorgan (talk) 04:41, 11 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Shelterbelts edit

«Планом намечено создание в течение 1050-1965 гг. крупных государственных лесных защитных полос общим протяжением 5320 км, с площадью лесопосадок 117,9 тыс. га.

Эти полосы пройдут:

1) по обоим берегам р. Волги от Саратова до Астрахани - две полосы шириной по 100 м и протяженностью 900 км;

2) по водоразделу pp. Хопра и Медведица, Калитвы и Березовой в направлении Пенза - Екатериновка - Каменск (на Северном Донце) - три полосы шириной по 60 м, с расстоянием между полосами 300 м и протяженностью 600 км;

3) по водоразделу pp. Иловли и Волги в направлении Камышин - Сталинград - три полосы шириной по 60 м, с расстоянием между полосами 300 м и протяженностью 170 км;

4) по левобережью р. Волги от Чапаевска до Владимировы - четыре полосы шириной по 60 м, с расстоянием между полосами 300 м и протяженностью 580 км;

5) от Сталинграда к югу на Степной - Черкасск - четыре полосы шириной по 60 м, с расстоянием между полосами 300 м и протяженностью 570 км;

6) по берегам р. Урала в направлении гора Вишневая - Чкалов - Уральск - Каспийское море - шесть полос (три по правому и три по левому берегу) шириной по 60 м, с расстоянием между полосами 200 м и протяженностью 1080 км;

7) по обоим берегам р. Дона от Воронежа до Ростова - две полосы шириной по 60 м и протяженностью 920 км;

Removed piece edit

As part of the Plan, the construction of a railroad across the North Siberia was launched in 1947, abandoned after Stalin's death in 1953. [1]

While quoted from a serious journal article, it looks like either the author did not know the exact meaning of the term, or the term meaning changed over time. In any case, I remove it until clarification. `'Míkka>t 19:47, 3 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Sound Ecological Ideas" edit

The statement that the program was based on sound ecological ideas is quite misleading. I happened to get here from the Aral Sea page, which demonstrates that the Great Plan was anything but ecologically sound. This needs serious reconsideration and reads as quite biased. I suggest that the sentence be removed or seriously balanced. Sanzoneja (talk) 23:24, 5 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Same here. In fact, I think probably something should be added about the Aral Sea catastrophe. Leirus (talk) 10:50, 31 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

There's no one here but us chickens. No one objected. Why not start doing it? Ornithikos (talk) 21:07, 6 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

POV edit

The page prizes the plan. It doesn't discuss its problems - slave work usage, dying of new forests. Russian critics: http://www.ecoethics.ru/old/b61/52.html Xx236 (talk) 07:22, 5 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

If the plan was based on the US one, it should be mentioned at the very beginning.Xx236 (talk) 07:41, 5 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
