Sim City 2000

In the scrolling Photoshop CS2 Credits (Help > About Photoshop), someone named "Marc Pawliger" is described as "Grand Poobah of Management". I thought this was pretty funny and should be mentioned. Naoki (talk) 17:08, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

"Grog Strongjaw was given the title of "Grand Poobah de Doink of All of This and That" in Critical Role, a popular D&D web series, by Lord Percival Fredrickstein von Musel Klossowski de Rolo III of Whitestone. The title comes with no land and no money. According to Percy, a Grand Poobah can be referred to as "Hey you, over there," "Hey you guy," "Old Bean," or "Sweet Chestnut." Grog would often reference his title in the show despite it not actually giving him any legal power anywhere." I'm not asking for others to be removed. I'm wanting mine added. The Flintstones part says that there's a character with the name of Grand Poobah. The Howard Cunning ham post says that there was a Grand Poobah in that show. And there's a post saying that there's a rapper by the name of Grand Poobah. I'm wanting to add that a character on the biggest D&D web series has that title. But it keeps getting removed. What do I need to put to "prove it's significance." I tried modifying my post each time to "prove it's significance" or cite it properly but I kept getting the same response without anyone elaborating what was needed to get my post added to the page. --Whix100

The Flintstones and Happy Days were major long-running network TV shows (at a time when the 3 networks controlled nearly all viewers). The references to Grand Poobah in those shows were numerous and ongoing and involved the lead character of The Flintstones and a key supporting character in Happy Days. We cite sources that clearly explain the importance of these references in these TV shows.I removed the rapper from the article, since the reference does not verify that his name is related to this topic. In the case of Critical Role, a web series (with a WP article is so appallingly badly written that the WP league of proofreaders refused to edit it) with a far lower viewership than the viewership of The Flintstones and Happy Days, you added a bullet point that included two links to prohibited sources (wikis) and that cited the subject itself (a YouTube episode), which is not an acceptable independent source and, in any case, only shows that the character used the title, but does not explain the importance of the reference and is not adequate to show that Grog's title is related to the topic of this article. -- Ssilvers (talk) 04:40, 30 March 2020 (UTC)

Not sure. Is the "transwiki-ing" up to date? Should we ask the folks at WP:TV or somewhere else where we can get more feedback on this? Remarkably, seven years after this point was legitimately raised, when the content was virtually identical to the current version, we've got editors claiming that the lack of activity above is some sort of consensus. So this will be dematerialising shortly unless Ssilvers (talk · contribs), who seems so keen on its continued existence, puts in the work to flesh out why one of ten million random turns of phrase in the English language is actually something more substantial.
