GA Reassessment edit

In order to uphold the quality of Wikipedia:Good articles, all articles listed as Good articles are being reviewed against the GA criteria as part of the GA project quality task force. While all the hard work that has gone into this article is appreciated, unfortunately, as of September 28, 2008, this article fails to satisfy the criteria, as detailed below. For that reason, the article has been delisted from WP:GA. However, if improvements are made bringing the article up to standards, the article may be nominated at WP:GAN. If you feel this decision has been made in error, you may seek remediation at WP:GAR.

  • There are at least four requests for citation.
  • There are many external links in the body of the text. External links should appear only in an External links section.
  • There are too many very short subsections.
  • There are at least four dead links in the References section.[1]
  • "Although TLS is used when one sends email via an email client ...". Should avoid the use of personal pronouns.
  • "Gmail's current documented help on this issue states: 'While Gmail doesn't currently support the functionality to open your Contacts list while composing a message, we're testing many new features to improve our service.'" There must be a citation for each direct quotation.
  • The Composition subsection is completely uncited, and several others, such as Security and Web interface, are inadequately cited.
  • Including an external sign up link in the Registration section makes the article look like a promotional piece for Gmail.
