Fate of company edit

What happened to the company? Was it sold to another company, or did it close down or change its name? Eastmain (talkcontribs) 14:34, 30 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

The Atlas Powder Co. acquired Giant in 1915. I haven't been able to ascertain yet whether the plant at Point Pinole actually changed its name or whether it kept the Giant brand. Maybe someone else will eventually be able to fill in more details. Tmangray (talk) 23:34, 30 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

The Point Pinole Giant plant apparently operated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Atlas Powder Co. until 1961. Atlas Powder became part of Atlas Chemical Co. The Atlas Chemical Company was bought by Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI), a diversified U.K. chemical company, in 1971. Atlas ceased to exist as a separate entity and became ICI Americas Inc.
