Indeed the article says this, but I don't know if that's enough to explain where he got 10 million dollars. I don't think at that time, a season of coaching would pay anywhere near that kind of money, so the question then goes to "joining his father's struggling company". If it's stuggling, how did he manage to find enough money just joining it to buy sports teams? Just wondering. Failure

Someone recently added "Failure" section that follows Seinbrenner's "Success" section. I believe that this section should be removed, or at least edited. For starters, it is not definitively the "most devastating collapse in baseball history." Seeing as there is no quantifiable way to measure a "devastating collapse" of this nature, I will change that part for now. Born in Rocky River?

There is no hospital in Rocky River. The nearet is in Lakewood or Cleveland (Westpark: Fairvew Hospital). I'm not aware of any hospital that used to be in Rocky River, but he could have been born there. Or he could have been born at home.

There is also no hospital in Bay Village, Ohio, where this page has previously listed his birthplace. However, I have found two reliable sources that list his place of birth as Rocky River, but that he was raised in Bay Village. Max Density (talk) 19:53, 22 September 2014 (UTC)

Steinbrenner could have played himself on Seinfeld?

I recall in an interview, Larry David said they originally approached Steinbrenner about playing himself in the show but Steinbrenner refused because he thought it would take up too much of his time. So when they threw names around for replacements, they just decided that David should do it. You know about the Seinfeld version of Steinbrenner? Well the only fault is the episodes could've looked like a list to make it easier to read and less obtrusive about it and maybe it would've worked better to make a separate article about Seinfeld's Steinbrenner. Health Issues

I completely agree with the above poster, there needs to be at least a line or two devoted to Steinbrenner's declining health. It is well known that he has at least some dementia and also he is bound to a wheel chair. Although I have a feeling that the point could be moot in a few months. OK, I see that the Yankee news releases do say "III", so I guess so, although his father's name was Henry George so it's not clear why George Michael becomes III. Would like some kind of real citation to clear this up, but I'll put it back for now if it hasn't yet been done. Maybe someone can check Schaap's or Madden's book. i don't how this works as i am new on computer and wikidata. i don't even know how to 'send' this note but i can identify the error and hope it eventually gets read and corrected.

on the entry 'george steinbrenner (1930 - 2010) there is a mistake in "re-instatement and championship years" in para 3 it reads that in 1995 the yankees made the play-offs for the first time since 1981 (that part is correct) but then it goes on yo state that then they - the yankees won the world series in 6 games. the yankees were not in the world series in 1995 as they lost to seattle in the first play-off round, 2-3. it was in 1996 that the yankees defeated the braves in 6 games.

"Relationship with the U.S. Olympic Committee"

The section on the Dave Winfield controversy says:

Steinbrenner wanted it worded as an "agreement" rather than a "suspension" to protect his relationship with the U.S. Olympic Committee

However, there is no other mention of the Olympic Committee in this biography. There is a brief mention about his relationship with an Olympic swimmer, but nothing else. If he considered the relationship that important, shouldn't it be described in this biography? Hopefully someone familiar with the subject can explore this area for improvement.
