Singles and Promos edit
I've gathered a little info about DT discography, and it seems that many of the singles listed in this page are, in fact, promotional releases. This is what I've got so far:

Images edit
Can someone explain to me how having images there violates the free-use policy? I'm fairly new to Wikipedia and I don't get it, they seemed perfectly relevant to illustrate the point of the discography to me. Adamravenscroft 17:46, 26 May 2007 (UTC)
- Copyrighted images have to meet several criteria in order to be used under so-called "fair use". Criterion #8 specifically states that the images may not be used in lists or galleries, and this criterion is the one which justifies the removal of these images from lists of TV episodes, discographies, and other similar "list of" type of articles. Format edit
I reckon this sort of list needs a different format, since its quite hard to gather information as it stands, all in a single column. I think it needs to be similar to the Megadeth discography: XJDenton 16:38, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Newer Information? edit
Does anyone have newer sales information for the albums? Especially Systematic Chaos? Platinum In Japan edit
According to Mike Portnoy's site, all of Dream Theater's albums have gone platinum in Japan (or Gold, since he specifies 100,000 copies, which is Gold in Japan). http://www.mikeportnoy.com/aboutmike/faq/answers/15.aspx#409 Question 9.

What's going on with the singles table? edit
Some of the entries aren't even albums (Acoustic Dreams is a bootleg; GoW isn't a DT release), and it looks like someone dumped the entire tracklisting of BC&SL disk 2 into the table. Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From a Memory gold certification? edit
If you check the article with Dream Theater's fifth album, Scenes from a Memory, then go to the bottom of the section "History", you'll see the sentence: "In 2010 the album went GOLD in the US."

Questionable Sources edit
Some of the numbers seemed a bit off, so I checked one of the sources. Specifically, the citation for the Scenes From A Memory sales figures, which links to a Metal Sludge page from 2002 courtesy of the internet wayback machine. First, I seem to recall there being more recent information available for many of the albums in question (including Scenes From A Memory going gold in the US in 2010). As well, the information present is nine unlabeled numbers for Dream Theater. Seeing as they only had six studio albums in 2002, can we reliably assign these numbers to albums? My assumption would be that some of these are live albums, but then that's only an assumption. As well, the article itself seems to be questioning the validity of some of the numbers mentioned (for other artists mentioned on the same page). This doesn't seem like the most reputable of sources. Black Clouds edit
Black Clouds has at least some numbers. Its article has it debuting with over 40,000, which was at least cited at the time. I think it's slightly over 40,000 (42,000?), but Billboard, despite their supposed station in charting the music industry, is actually very slack in documenting these things. None the less, I think that article alone has sufficient citing for at least 40,000 (again, I think that's the debut, but better than nothing). 134.41.125.152 (talk) 02:10, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
Chart Inaccuracy edit
First of all, there used to be Canadian chart data, and now there isn't. That needs to be corrected. As well, it seems as if some Japanese data has been removed? Such as how some of their early albums performed in Japan. How Scenes From A Memory performed seems to have been erased as well, as that album went at least Gold in the US. 47.54.6.123 (talk) 03:27, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
