Conflict of interest editing edit

Per the header of this page, an editor with a conflict of interest has edited here, so I have placed a COI tag on the article. The article needs to be reviewed for NPOV and sourcing by an independent editor; that editor can then remove the tag. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 13:13, 24 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Response to conflict of interest issue edit

I am the editor said to have a conflict of interest in supplying my research to this page in (from memory) 2013. After now assessing many of the wikipedia policies about different types of contributions, I am aware that much of the information I've supplied here does contravene the WP policy of 'no original research'. Because there has been very little research done on Douglas Snelling apart from my PhD project since 2003, I don't think there is another reliable WP writer likely to be able to provide comprehensive biographical information about him. However, WP editors may want to delete my uploads on this subject. Most of it is original research gathered from primary sources (interviews, research of his original papers, review of articles originally published by and about him) and the article includes some conclusions that I have made as the expert on Snelling who has written the biography items for the Australian Dictionary of Biography and the Australian Encyclopedia of Architecture.

WP editors may decide to delete 'self-promotion' references to my other publications on Snelling, although I believe this would not be helpful to potential readers.

Deleting the material I have authored on Snelling should take WP readers back to a stub with minimal information, including various factual errors – and including references to publications on Snelling whose authors used, and did not always cite, my research. (There may be additional edits by others.)

This must be a policy decision by the WP administrators and editorial community. Regret that I had assumed that original research would be welcomed, not prohibited. Dandelionz (talk) 06:02, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

You seem to have taken the COI notfication wrongly. There is no bar to you editing this article directly. Please just refrain from WP:SELFCITE as much as you can. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 22:05, 25 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
