Taxobox photo edit

This needs to have a photo of the living fish in the taxobox. This photo is more appropriate for a nutrition label. Bob the Wikipedian, a WikiDragon (talk) 00:48, 9 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I agree,and so—more than five years later—I've changed the taxobox image. 72.244.204.223 (talk) 00:06, 7 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

@Fredlesaltique: : When the species has a very wide range of distribution, we only categorize at a larger scale (no need to refine into smaller geographical sub-cats.) --Couiros22 (talk) 07:10, 16 July 2021 (UTC) @Couiros22: I see. Is Northern Australia the only one currently being used for fishes? Cheers, Fredlesaltique (talk) 07:42, 18 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

I understand your point... but the reason Australian sub-categories are exceptionally included (although I know this might somehow seem unfair) is because of their inherent relevance towards readers (at least from an anglophone perspective), moreover that are often backed up with a useful supplement of information (cf. fishesofaustralia.net.au). --Couiros22 (talk) 09:31, 18 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Couiros22: Doesn't really matter about fairness, I just want to know which country categories have been deprecated and should be removed and which ones should be put in, in case I come across in other articles. Does one of the project pages have info? Cheers, Fredlesaltique (talk) 03:30, 20 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Include country cats only if species has a local range of distribution, if not upgrade to higher-scale categories ; however include the 'fish of Australia' category for any Indo-Pacific species ; but you can also include country (small-scale) cats if the species has a global but sparse range of presence (e.g. here) --Couiros22 (talk) 06:42, 20 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
