This article failed good article nomination. This is how the article, as of September 25, 2006, compares against the six good article criteria:

1. Well written?: Fail
2. Factually accurate?: Fail
3. Broad in coverage?: Fail
4. Neutral point of view?: O. K.
5. Article stability? Pass
6. Images?: Pass

When these issues are addressed, the article can be resubmitted for consideration. Thanks for your work so far.

Additional comments :

  • To support the flood of tourists and entertainment seekers pouring nightly into Dotonbori, an explosion of restaurants and cafes burst onto the scene, providing every sort of culinary delight the eager pleasure-seekers could desire. sounds like an original research statement.
  • Kuidaore section is far from neutral. It looks more like an ad. Content of weasel word is high
  • Resaurants of Note section ... typo in title, need I say more. Not a really encyclopedia section, it would be seen as a trivia section normally, if it is axed down to the most important ones then it is good, saying what makes these important in the town is also useful, if it can't be said, it probably isn't notable for the article. Also, if it is kept, more words need to be wikilinked in order to facilitate the reading and the comprehension.
  • Dontonbori Landmarks reads as an advert too, it should be turned into an Attraction section including such sections as Bridges, Resaurants of Note & Dontonbori Landmarks in order to give it a more encyclopedic tone.
  • The Miscellanea section should be present unless it is significant in a way or another to the district.
I have only reviewed the first half of the text although the same can be applied to the rest of the article in that it should rid itself of weasel words, be more sourced & have a more encyclopedic tone.

  • Since the article is sidetracked by the presence of non-notable facts (IMO), then it is to assume that it lacks in other areas of expertise in topic.
For one, what are the limits of that district, that would offer a better pinpointing of the area.
Needs more information about the people that live there and less about attractions for tourists. Lincher 11:51, 26 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Nobody lives there. It is a single street, between two bridges, that can be walked in about 10/15 minutes. It is filled with restaurants, which are famous for their mechanical billboards, and that is all. The only thing notable about Dontonbori is the attractions. There is nothing else. But it is one of the main tourists attractions of Osaka, possibly the main tourist attraction. Perhaps this was not made clear?MightyAtom 12:24, 26 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Ebisubashi Bridge edit

I suggest an article for Ebisubashi Bridge it seems to have an interesting and notable history. What would be the correct spelling? (Ebisubashi Bridge/Ebisu-bashi Bridge).

The article needs references, particularly for some of the material in this section. Can someone suggest sources please? User:Pedant (talk) 00:03, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Everything is actually referenced. They just aren't inline citations, which they probably should be, and it would be easy enough to do so.. The main reference for all the Ebisubashi bits are from the Osaka InfoGuide, a tourist's guide distributed at the American consolate, which has a sizable article on Dotonbori.MightyAtom (talk) 04:40, 12 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Kuidaore clown edit

The Kuidaore clown is scheduled to be taken down. Need more information on this. Badagnani (talk) 21:23, 29 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Glico man edit

Article Billboard#History says the Glico man was installed in 1919, not 1935. Please someone find references and fix the discrepancy, thanks! Nicolas1981 (talk) 11:36, 27 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
