Frank Stella edit

Do we have a source referring to anything made by Frank Stella as a "combine painting?" Bus stop (talk) 00:03, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

User:Modernist put in Frank Stella on the Combine painting page. And clearly Stella's works did have both painting and sculptural elements combined but you're right -- I didn't find a direct source specifically saying "Stella" and "Combine painting", but my sense is it's probably right, that Stella did "Combine paintings".--Tomwsulcer (talk) 01:43, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Handymanart = Combine painting by a Wikipedian.
I like the new wording about Stella. And, User:Bus stop, are you saying that my amateur painting is a combine painting? I combined housepaint, light switch, light, fluorescent paint, wallboard joint compound, and wire mesh (underneath to hold the joint compound). So, you're saying it's possible, in a sense, that I could post my Handymanart painting here? But, somehow, the idea of me putting my Handymanart on the same page with Rauschenberg seems, shall we say, a tad presumptious? But IF it had the effect of making my totally worthless painting worth several million dollars in thirty years, then I'll all for it! And I'll be glad to split the profits with my excellent fellow Wikipedians! :) --Tomwsulcer (talk) 13:45, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
I don't think the source provided is a strong endorsement for calling Frank Stella's work "combine paintings." Bus stop (talk) 17:40, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
Yes but do you think that Stella's works are combine paintings? My sense is they are, based on the definition of combine paintings and the description of Stella's paintings, plus User:Modernist adding this detail. It adds up to me. But, you're right, there isn't an official source saying "Stella's paintings are officially combine paintings". So, I'm on the fence on this one.--Tomwsulcer (talk) 18:04, 10 January 2010 (UTC)Reply
