Stuff edit

Hey, so their page was basically vandalized, but I have no idea how to just undo all the changes. Anyone? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.6.24.115 (talk) 11:38, 30 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Heh, still learning how to set stuff up here. I tried using the Jefferson Airplane page as a starting-point, just on a whim - totally fluked out that they were known as Jefferson Starship, which I thought was an interesting connection. Cobra Airplane? I wonder if the band was thrown together just for the movie :) Good song, though. I like it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 05:39, 13 July 2006 (talkcontribs)

Update: MTV article provides info on how the name came to be. (article) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 06:20, 13 July 2006 (talkcontribs)

William, Travis and Maja aren't actually members of Cobra Starship, they just provided vocals and appeared in the clip for Snakes on a Plane (Bring It). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Raye87 (talkcontribs) 14:03, 14 July 2006

Yeah, Gabe is the only actual member--Bopher1 01:01, 15 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Actual Members edit

can we get some sources cited here for the actual members, at this point I am taking it that it is just Gabe. Are there others? Xsxex 01:13, 9 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

It's basically just Gabe's solo prjoect. Le Raine 03:54, September 8 2006
There are 5 members of the band, which is now a legitimate project. Gabe, Ryland, Alex, Vicky, and Nate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MJB12 (talkcontribs) 04:19, 14 June 2007
Yes, there are five; it's not just Gabe. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.73.104.49 (talk) 22:21, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Future Plans edit

I get the feeling that the entire Future Plans section is creative fiction. Any citations for Jordan Vidor, Muto! Muto! Muto! or the "Fag Four"? British Ben 03:38, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Name origination edit

I removed the following text: "substituing "Cobra" for Jefferson, the name would be "Cobra Airplane"--a reference to the band's first single, "Snakes on a Plane (Bring it)", which was featured in the film Snakes on a Plane"

It is comfusing and doesn't really have much to do with anything, since the band name was around before the SOAP phenomenon. NeilDespres 06:08, 19 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

It must be a reference to Elite, surely? 82.41.38.204 22:39, 1 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

The name, Cobra Starship, came from two jackets that Gabe owned. One said Cobra Gym and the other said Starship Disco. Thus, Cobra Starship. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.127.94.47 (talkcontribs) 19:47, 8 December 2008

Misc edit

I don't really think that Cobra Starship is a side project of Midtown anymore. I don't really know enoughyet so I can't say for sure, but it seems like it's muchbigger and is Gabe's main band now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.112.63.76 (talkcontribs) 08:14, 5 January 2007

I don't understand how "Bring It (Snakes on a plane)" could have possibly been written without having a connection to the movie. there is NO way that could have been a coincedence. It definitely needs some sort of citation or should be excised from the article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 171.66.213.235 (talkcontribs) 00:24, 7 August 2007

Soooo, rumor has it that Elisa was dropped from the band, any substantial proof and should it be added? community.livejournal.com/cobra_starship — Preceding unsigned comment added by ArtVandelay27 (talkcontribs) 20:20, 23 January 2007

UPDATE: SHE IS OUT OF THE BAND AND VICKY T IS IN THE BAND! I REPEAT, ELISA IS GONE, VICKY T IS HERE! ALSO THEY ARE DOING THE SOUNDTRACK FOR THE NEW TMNT MOVIE! — Preceding unsigned comment added by ArtVandelay27 (talkcontribs) 05:02, 25 January 2007

-- No coincedence. Actually, there is an origional version of "Bring It" by Cobra Starship. The whole Snakes on a Plane must have been later interpretted into it for the movie. The guy in the boots carrying the guitar case was William Beckett, the lead vocalist for The Academy Is... notice Pete Wentz was also in it? bands from the same label have a way of becoming friends. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Taisantilove (talkcontribs) 21:36, 6 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Band in a Bubble edit

Cobra Starship posted a Myspace bulletin that seriously hints that they'll be the next band to record for Dr. Pepper's Band In A Bubble. "The producers quickly realized that our undeniable zest and charm in front of the camera could make them billions of dollars. Not to mention the fact that the sound engineer was having trouble hearing anything over our ridiculously good looks. So cross your fingers Cobros and Cobrettes! We might hit it big!" MJB12 02:26, 13 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fan clubs edit

I don't think the existence of groups of four fans obsessed with a band is important enough to be encyclopedic. It was actually embarrassing to read. Leopold Stotch 16:37, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Nate? edit

Anyone else noticed that there's no page for Nate Novarro? If you click on his name, it just brings you back to the main page. Anyone know how to fix that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.74.228.254 (talk) 17:36, 20 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

yes i have noticed that as well and have no idea how to fix it. its probably because there is not enough information for him anywhere. like, biographies and stuff. i dont know im just guessing. GerardXXXXway (talk) 23:45, 19 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Genre edit

Yes, I do believe that Cobra Starship is Alternative rock but on their recent album they have used many beats relating to breakbeat. As well as their genre being Breakbeat / Grindcore / Afrobeat on their MySpace page, and they run their MySpace page, obviously, they know what their own genre is. --Thebluesharpdude (talk) 05:19, 22 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Except they are very obviously NOT a grindcore band... so that would put their whole choice of genres under suspicion.68.36.50.233 (talk) 04:03, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

No Origional Research, if grindcore is what a site says, we go with that. But i didn't see the genres on their myspace page, i may have missed it though because i wasn't looking very hard. Terminus777 (talk) 22:29, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Use common sense - that is obviously a joke. kiac. (talk-contrib) 02:12, 6 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

these guys are NOT dance punk. These guys are in NO way influenced by the NO Wave or Post-punk scenes of the late 70's. 71.143.240.249 (talk) 01:17, 29 December 2009 (UTC)Reply

Excluding The City Is At War, I don't think Cobra Starship qualifies as alternative rock. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rocker10000 (talkcontribs) 22:57, 26 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

singles?? edit

alright, so how come it lists "enjoy the silence" by depeche mode under singles for cobra starship? that makes no sense to me....

billboard 200 wiki-style error edit

somebody didn't know what they were doing when they were adding the rankings to the albums at the bottom (there's a code box around one of them), i was going to fix it but i noticed there were two ranks written there from the same ranking (billboard 200) and didn't know which was correct. Jmh010 (talk) 02:49, 8 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Clean Up edit

This really needs to be worked on. Its just one big long article with no headers. Can someone clean it up, or does anyone mind if I clean it up? Thanks!Mygerardromance (talk) 16:00, 28 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hot Mess (song) edit

The song 'Hot Mess actually charted on the Billboard 200, no one has however not added it (maybe it's not supposed to?). Anyways I tried to add it but failed

Irrelevant/Stupid Details edit

I see this on a lot of wiki pages and it's gotten to the point where I had to say something about it:

"On October 21, 2009 Cobra Starship took their first trip in a private jet [2], which reportedly enthused the group. Cobra Starship took the private jet to Bloomington, Indiana to attend a charity event at Indiana University which also featured Girl Talk. The charity event which took place October 22, 2009 benefited a local shelter for battered women and was sponsored by Victoria's Secret. Indiana University students competed against five other institutions during the summer to win a visit from Cobra Starship and mashup DJ Girl Talk."

Come on people, don't add details about a band just because they're there. Think, first, if the addition you are making adds an value to the article. For example, who cares if Cobra Starship took their first trip in a private jet? Things like this are the reason that people don't take wikipedia seriously. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.85.49.0 (talk) 19:37, 11 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

inconsistent details!! edit

the table that contains the chart numbers for "good girls go bad" isn't consistent with the same table on the leighton meester page. this one suggests that the song hit number 1 in new zealand whereas the leighton page says it achieved number 2...

if someone could verify which figure is correct and change as appropriate, that'd be awesome. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.47.22.128 (talk) 21:15, 23 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Add genre edit

Emo pop has to be added to this band. I know "emo" is a bad word so the fans are going to resist it, bub you have to face facts. This allmusic guide review http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:hpfixzlald6e calls them just that. Rhapsody calls them an "emo rock band" here: http://www.rhapsody.com/cobra-starship. Entertainment Weekly calls them "the emo pop clowns" here music-mix.ew.com/2009/08/06/cobra-starship-justin-timberlake/. I didn't want to just add it because, again, "emo" is a bad word that will be resisted by fans. But not including it when it can be verified and sourced when the other genres are not sourced (not that I disagree with them) is a bit of a joke. 69.251.35.162 (talk) 03:15, 25 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Fix genres edit

They are NOT Pop. It needs to be removed, with Alternative and Pop Punk being added. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bldr0314 (talkcontribs) 02:16, 3 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

They're definitely not Alternative rock nor Pop punk, these two genres should be removed. They use lots of machines and vocal processing, their music is upbeat and has a dance feel, which is not an Alternative rock or Pop punk convention. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Noreplyhaha (talkcontribs) 08:35, 28 July 2011

New Member edit

Eric Halvorsen was announced as the new bassist on October 28, and has yet to be added to the list of band members. [1] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Menoitiades (talkcontribs) 04:40, 4 November 2014
