Merger proposal

• Since Ping Hai and Yasoshima are one and the same ship, they really should be combined into a single page, I think - The Bushranger _{Return fire}^{Flank speed} 06:26, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
• While Yasoshima did start its career as Ping Hai, it did seem considerably altered prior to being recommissioned as a Japanese warship, which is why I thought it might warrant a seperate page of its own. Of course it's just my opionion...... although come to think of it, its combat career under the Japanese banner did seem a bit short...... Dy031101 (talk) 16:34, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
• I'd merge them unless the combined article would be of excessive length when reasonably complete (which doesn't seem likely given the short Japanese career, and despite the extensive changes). Magic♪piano 20:32, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

• Comment - User:Habap asked if there were any other examples of articles on ships that have changed nationality - an example would be USCGC Eagle (WIX-327), formerly the Horst Wessel. • Comment: I'm of the mind to keep the articles seperate. The ship was outfitted, sailed, and sunk twice under two different names and under different flags. However, if the consensus is to merge, I suggest we use USCGC Eagle as an example and place the article under the name Yasoshima. If ships are like people, then history recalls the name they died with, not the name they were born under. Boneyard90 (talk) 18:20, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
