This article appears to have been copied and pasted from a journal article, perhaps be the author of said article. Although it is a good article standing on its own merits, huge portions or aspects of the article are incompatible with an encyclopedic format or purpose. I noted the following:

• Background - This section is massive, with far too much extraneous information, and should pared down considerably.
• References - While the format in place is technically permissible, it should be put in the format of more preferred in-line citations that link directly to the reference list at the bottom. This will have to be done if the article is to progress past B-class.
• NPOV issues - This article carries point of view issues that are incompatible with an encyclopedia. Not so glaring that there's a need to tag it with a banner, but the main or next editor should be aware of this issue.
• Supporting materials - Can be solved with a photo of something relevant: a pregnant Japanese woman, a Japanese woman giving birth, or even a photo of a hospital or maternity home.
• Accessibility - Needs more explanations for certain terms, like "skinship" (among others). Just because it's a popular buzzword doesn't mean everyone is familiar with the concept.

Episiotomies in Japan sentence

"Additionally, because Japanese women prioritize safe delivery, episiotomy is often performed in all birth cases"

I feel like there needs to be some sort of clarifying statement after this, because the current wording treats the idea of episiotomies being safer for delivery as true. When...it's not. The scientific community has debunked such ideas years and years ago. In fact, it was found that performing such procedures results in much higher infection risks (and thus, also, risk of harm to the baby). The rest of the modern medical world has long since moved past such methods (though there are still backwards hospitals in every country that try to practice it even when medical scientists have been repeatedly pointing it out as bad).
