Horatio Caine

  Resolved
 – Article has now existed for years.

There is no Horatio Caine, this, very simply is appauling. I don't have much knowledge of CSI:M, but I'll do my best. Computerjoe's talk 17:42, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

DVD information consolidation

  Resolved
 – No objections registered.

I originally consolidated the spread-out information presented here on 30 June. After an unbelievable 52 edits by 84.27.209.61, this information was unnecessarily re-expanded to include the same information requiring thrice the amount of space and thrice as prolix. I have re-consolidated the information, and have left both of the previously included images present. While I feel having both images is superflous, I can concede an argument for one from each region. I have removed the sizing specifications for the images to lend some actual legibility to them — otherwise they're coloured blogs of irrecognizability. — pd_THOR | =/\= | 11:40, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

Ryan Wolfe's fate

  Resolved
 – Yes, he came back.

Maybe you need to check the Ryan Wolfe parts cause i swear he left the show because he got shot in the eye? Does he come back in series 5? I don't know because series 5 isn't in the UK yet.

Continuity error

  Resolved
 – Typical and non-noteworthy.

CSI: Miami has morphed with Star Trek! I recently watched this season's first episode (2006-07). Evidently, they would have us believe that Caine and that other guy solved the crime by running around Rio, all in daylight, and then returned to Miami, again in daylight, wearing the same clothes and so evidently the same day. I checked on Expedia and the quickest flight I saw was 8 hours, but I actually have no idea how long it takes to fly from Rio to Miami. Either that, or, they used the transporter from Star Trek.Dunstanramsey 05:07, 30 September 2006 (UTC)

All of these kinds of shows do this all the time. Such timeline discrepancies have been visible in TV cop shows since the days of Hawaii 5-0 and Streets of San Francisco. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 09:59, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Other Goofs

  Resolved
 – No further consideration in over 2 years; we all know that the science in "CSI"-franchise shows is not 100% perfect; see also WP:TRIVIA.

I've seen a Miami episode a week ago (not sure about recency), where a young modeling agency employee is killed when she puts lipstick on that is laced with cyanide. During her convulsions, one of the characters (I think it was Delko) states that there is no antitode for cyanide poisoning to another while they both watch her die in the interrogation room.

If someone knows what episode this happens in, perhaps this could be added in the Goofs section. — Dorvaq (talk) 16:49, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Well, depending on how strong the dose was, it might have been untreatable, but it probably was a goof, as there are treatments for cyanide poisonoing.--Vercalos 01:32, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Marisol's last words

  Resolved
 – Moot. Her last words are no longer mentioned in the article.

I've just seen the episode where Marisol dies, and I don't think her last words as described in this article are correct. They were something like this:

H: I've got a dinner apointment tonight. M: Casa Tua? H: Casa Tua. You're not going to stand me up, are you? M: Wouldn't dream of it.

Other recurring characters

  Resolved
 – No further comment in a year and a half.

Shouldn't Walter Resden and Joseph Ratner be included under recurring characters? I'd do it myself, but I haven't watched the show enough to give a summary of either character(having only a vague idea who Resden is, and no clue who Ratner is).--Vercalos 01:13, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Doesn't Raymond Caine, Jr.(currently played by Carter Jenkins) count as a recurring character, too?

Baldwin91006 02:21, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

I would think so, even though Carter will now be seen on CBS" new Vegas-style drama "Viva Laughlin", but if THAT show gets cancelled, then we'll all wait for his return as Horatio's troubled nephew...Michaela92399 02:42, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Rap Sheet

  Resolved
 – Random alleged loose ends are not Wikipedia matters.

In the episode called Rap Sheet, a bodyguard is shot and killed. The team believes that the shooter was after the rap singer whom the body guard was protecting, and they later get a match when the singer gets shot at again during a drive by. However, in the end, it turns out that the shooter wasn't aiming for the singer at all, just the body guard, who he was under order to shoot down. If that is so, why did he try and shoot the singer again during the drive-by shooting? JackOfHearts 04:15, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Never trust TV guides. They're so full of speculation and hype that it amazes me. I've heard nothing about the actor leaving the show, and believe me, that would be significant news for such a popular TV series. So don't bury poor Delko until they do so on screen! (And even then don't trust it too much. They buried Ray Caine, didn't they?) DreamroseTavua 17:48, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

Out of control trivia section

  Resolved
 – No objections registered in almost 2 years.

I've removed the trivia and goofs section as they were massively overloaded with useless information. A few bits could be useful in expanding the main body of the article, but very few. In the interests of preservation, I'm moving the stuff I cut out to Talk:CSI: Miami/Trivia. See WP:AVTRIV and WP:TRIVIA for Wikipedia community stance on this general issue. Levels

  Resolved
 – Question answered simply by watching the show. The numbers are cumulative (and have nothing to do with "Detective" status).

Are Detective level higher 3 or 1? If it's Level 1 detective, are that higher then 3. level detective? --81.197.166.21 18:33, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Assuming that it follows the same pattern as in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, a level 3 is higher in rank than a level 1. Example: In CSI: Vegas, Nick Stokes was promoted in the pilot episode to CSI level 3, and in the series two episode "Chasing the Bus", he recalls his first crime scene as (quote) "CSI-1, as green as can be". Horatio has a son?...

  Resolved
 – Moot, and off-topic. WP articles add sourceable information as-available, and are not fan forums.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I heard from the TV critics press tour in L.A. recently, the opening episodes concern Horatio's discovery that he has a son he didn't know existed(played by Evan Ellingson)...

Is this true?...if so, will it be added here to the CSI:Miami page later this fall?

Thanks, Baldwin91006 02:25, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

If Horatio indeed has a son, then that information will be added as soon as the relevant episode airs. DreamroseTavua 15:19, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

Filming in LA, as a money-saving exercise?

  Resolved
 – Question answered; details provided, pro or con, are not sourced, and therefore of no relevance to the article text.

I'm not american, but even those of us in the UK know, California is on the West coast, and Florida is on the East.

How then, can we justify the suggestion that "It is filmed primarily in the United States, mostly in the Los Angeles area (due to cheaper production/studio costs) and of course, all around the South Florida/Miami-Dade area" in the first paragraph? Ok, studios might be cheaper, but I doubt it offsets the flying back and forth of people.

The statement is in the first paragraph; if it can be referenced, I guess it should stay (an instance where verifiability must come before sense, I'm afraid), but if not... it should go.

Thoughts?

-- (James McNally)  (talkpage)  22:29, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes, it is filmed in the LA metro area. Actually, the series only films in Miami a few times a year. The rest of the time the program is shot in soundstages, on LA's southwest facing beaches and in Long Beach, which closely resembles Miami along its shoreline. (I am a resident of Long Beach and have not only seen the production crew with a great deal of frequency, but can often identify Long Beach locales in the episodes. Queensway Bay Bridge often doubles for a Miami causeway, and the art deco buildings and highrises on Ocean Blvd easily duplicate Miami Beach. The Long Beach Convention Center is used often for "event" and "festival" shoots, and the Port of Long Beach is used frequently for a more industrial look.) Naples is used a LOT. In fact there was a promo used oer and over culled from an episode where H shoots at a would be assassin from a balcony and glass breaks. That's at Rivo Alto Canal S. The assassin was across the canal at about the corner of Rivo Alto ad E Neopolitan Ln.
Barbergallery (talk) 18:15, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
The soundstages are actually in Manhattan Beach, near LAX(airport), at the Raleigh Manhattan Studios...Michaela92399 (talk) 02:43, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Rank Structure

Cleanup of page

  Resolved
 – Changed discussed and implemented; article stable for over a year.

I would like to propose a major cleanup of this page as it is beginning to get cluttered and messy. The first thing I want to do is condense the cast list. What the article for the original CSI has done, and quite successfully, is to only list on the main page those characters who have appeared in the opening credits of the show, past or present. Any recurring characters are listed on a seperate page which is linked from the cast section. Any comments/suggestions/objections? -- Redfarmer 19:26, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

I agree with your proposal. The original CSI is a good model to look at. Shawn W 02:34, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
I've begun a cleanup of the character sections. As a rule, only those characters who appear in the credits should be listed in the main article. Recurring characters should be listed in Minor characters in CSI: Miami. This is to prevent the main page from getting cluttered up by an infinite list of characters who have appeared in the show more than once. -- Redfarmer 14:54, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
I've noted that while this clean-up is for the most part pretty solid, there is the resulting issue with sections that have little information in them or just simply links. This is unacceptable, and the sections need to be developed out. that's part of clean-up, too. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 00:14, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
I still don't understand how you feel the Crossovers section could be expanded or why you feel there should be information other than a link in the episodes section. A wiki review of the original CSI article with this exact section found it up to wiki standards. How would you suggest expanding it? -- Redfarmer 00:23, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

OK, for the record, here's what I did today. I would love some feedback as I do not like the prospect of doing all of this by myself:

  • Cleaned up character sections by deleting enormously long and cumbersome titles, making it easier to navigate, and moving recurring characters to Minor characters in CSI: Miami article.
  • Taken out cumbersome information in the opening two paragraphs of the article and moved to sections of their own.
  • Added production section with information on filming locations, music, and crew. This should be pretty solid for now unless someone wants to expand with more information. I did not expand because I could find no more sources.
  • Added information on CSI franchise (novels, comic books, video game).
  • Added crossover section for crossovers between CSI: Miami and both the original series and CSI: NY. I don't see how this can be expanded without becoming an episode synopsis.
  • Cleaned up "See Also" section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Redfarmer (talkcontribs) 00:17, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for letting us know. The work looks really solid. Your edits exposed a few areas that need development (which I've marked with stub tags). Sections like the minor characters in the series, that link to another page, should contain a paragraph or so about what reviewers have noted about these characters, and essentially, why they even need a subpage in the first place. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 00:25, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
OK, I've been patient after being chided by someone on my talk page because they did not feel I was involving other editors in the clean-up through talk page discussion. However, after nearly a week, no one has said anything and the user who chided me and added section stubs in areas that really don't make much sense still has not explained their reasoning after I repeadetly asked them to. As such, unless someone responds in the next few days, I will begin condensing sections and removing section stubs like I planned to in the first place. -- Redfarmer 00:56, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

First of all, I appreciate your patience, Red. Some of us have lives outside of Wikipedia, and other ewdits consuming their time. I imagine there might be a spot more traffic over the weekend. I am very sorry if you interpreted my suggestions were in fact chiding; they were cettainly not meant as such. I perhaps should have gone into more detail about when I say you should discuss your edits, it means you can let us know what you thinks needs cleaning up, and get our feedback on that before proceeding, That way, you avoid anyone down the road saying, 'hey, what the hell is this guy doing, just getting all crazy with the article?' I've already said that your edits were solid, Red, and I still mean that. Dazzle us with your brilliance, and let us know what you want to do, so we can either agree wholeheartedly, disagree vehemently or offer little bits of tweaking to improve what you want a tad further. I hope that clears up a bit what i meant. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 07:11, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

After at least five times asking you on two seperate occasions you still have not explained to me why you think the episode section and crossover section are stubs. This is all I want to know. I have been asking you this both here and on your talk page and I feel like I'm getting a run around. You're the one who put the stubs in. How do you feel like they can be expanded further? -- Redfarmer 14:08, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Ok, who DELETED Carter Jenkins from the "Recurring characters from "CSI:Miami" list?...he's just as important as Evan Ellingson and the now-departed Brendan Fehr...please restore his name to the list...thanks...Baldwin91006 02:56, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

The recurring characters have been moved to a seperate article. If the character has been deleted there, you should ask on that talk page. -- Redfarmer 19:30, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

Kyle Harmon's mother is not dead

  Resolved
 – Later episodes clearly confirmed that Kyle's mother was alive and well.

Sorry but I believe there should be a correction about the faith of Kyle's mother. I believe in Dangerous Son, the show never stated that his mother was dead. Merely that Kyle was in foster homes since the age of six. Horatio never asked Yelina "is the boy in contact with his mother". Theme song

  Resolved
 – It was just rapidly-reverted vandalism.

The article states that Who Are You is the theme song to CSI Miami. If I'm not mistaken this is only the theme for the "regular" CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, while they use Won't get fooled again for the opening credits of the Miami version.

I'm not 100% sure on this, so I didn't edit it myself. Just wanted to bring the topic up.

Looking for help writing an article about spin-offs and crossovers

  Resolved
 – Just an FYI.

I am writing an article about all of the series which are in the same shared reality as this one through spin-offs and crossovers. I could use a little help expanding the article since it is currently extremely dense and a bit jumbled with some sentence structures being extremely repetitive. I would like to be able to put this article into article space soon. Any and all help in writing the article would be appreciated, even a comment or two on the talk page would help. Please give it a read through, also please do not comment here since I do not have all of the series on my watch list. - LA @ 16:29, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Change of actress portraying Natalia Boa Vista?

  Resolved
 – Simple vandalism; removed.

Anonymous user 68.192.71.79 had changed Eva LaRue to Megyn Price on the CSI:Miami page. As I am a very new user, I only fixed it, and left a note for the user (trying to be polite). I did not report it or attempt to block them as I do not know how, and do not feel comfortable with blocking people yet - even though this did appear to be vandalism. Perhaps someone with more experience than myself would like to handle it. Bloo (talk) 06:34, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Horatio's shooting

  Resolved
 – Fan speculation is not encyclopedic, per WP:NOR.

We saw a lot of this with Warrick's shooting on the CSI article - speculation with no basis in fact. While it does appear that Horatio Caine has died, we have no confirmation of this, and David Caruso is contracted for the seventh season, so it stands to reason that the status of the character should be listed as "unknown," since that is exactly what it is. Conversely, I believe the speculation about Ryan Wolfe's involvement in a possible conspiracy to fake Horatio's death should be removed, as this is, as of yet, a wholly unsubstantiated claim. 72.184.120.177 (talk) 21:37, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Absolutely. It was just fan speculation, from those who especially should know better, given the (allegedly surprising) plot turns this show is well noted for. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 09:41, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Popularity

  Unresolved
 – The statement remains in the article, but is disputed.

According to the Guiness World Records 2008, CSI: Miami is the world's most popular tv show based on TV ratings of 20 countries, followed by Lost and Desperate Housewives. Is this article worthy?
I will post a scan of the page if requested but its probably copyrighted so I don't know whether I should or not. If you have the Guiness World Records 2008 its on page 184.
Spirallingspirit (talk) 21:23, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Its totally based on a simple for-fun list of shows who are in 20 random countries' top ten lists. In all likelihood, CIA Miami is not the number 1 show in any of those countries. It can hardly hit the top 10 on its home US network. The 'survey' is not scientific at all, and should not be used to claim superiority for this show. --IronMaidenRocks (talk) 11:37, 30 October 2008 (UTC)

The Strip

  Unresolved
 – Probable original research removed, but possibly restorable with external sources.

I have removed the following from the article:

"Australian television drama The Strip takes much inspiration from CSI: Miami and is photographed with similar images of sparkling surf, aerial shots of buildings and golden sands. The drama series is shot in the Gold Coast, which is like Miami in Australia."

A visual similarity and a personal opinion that the Gold Coast is "like Miami" does not justify a whole section in this article devoid of supporting references as to the inspiration for the Australian show. - Mark 14:51, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Concur; blatant original research. It probably is actually true, but we need a third-party source to say it. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 09:38, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Comparison with CSI Vegas

Is there a perceived difference between the different CSI shows, stylistically, treatment of themes, or in any other way? Hakluyt bean 13:58, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

It might be something worth researching. Personally, i think the Miami version quickly went from a prettier version of CSI (Vegas) to something more in keeping with the Michael Mann Miami Vicedays. I cannot say its an improvement. I always thought the series wwas to focus around the evidence, and the characters' lives were secondary. This holds true int he other two series but not here. I think it suffers for the reliance on weak characterization and back story.Arcayne 08:08, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
In my opinion, each of the CSIs has a different focus (and catchphrase!). Gil Grissom is constantly saying "follow the evidence," so I think of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as focusing mostly on the science and techniques used to catch criminals. Horatio Caine of CSI: Miami always says, "We never close." There's a great deal of emphasis on action, explosions, and excitement. And for CSI: NY, good old Mac Taylor professes "Everything is connected." I think it is the closest of the CSIs to a pure detective drama, just finding out who the bad guy is. Just as an example of how the shows are different from each other: throughout the entire first season of CSI: NY, Mac wears a suit and tie and we don't see a problem. But when Keppler (Liev Schreiber) shows up on the original in similar attire, he gets funny looks from everyone. DreamroseTavua 21:14, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
If anything, CSI:M's catchphrase is simply "I'm going to get you", which Horatio says, in one way or another, in almost every episode. The principal difference between CSI:LV and CSI:M is teamwork vs. leadership, respectively, and this is reflected in the considerably more fractious and divisive nature of the team on CSI:M. CSI:NY seems to be between the two, but I haven't thought about it as much. I could say that CSI:NY seems to be about personalities (plural) and their interplay, CSI:M about the dominant singular personality of Caine and its interaction with various subordinate personalities, and CSI:LV about the emergent supra-personality of a cooperative group, all of whose individual personalities form parts of a more cohesive whole (which, not surprisingly, makes it still the most popular of the related series, at least last that I checked).
Just my take though. I think it would enhance all three main articles to have some sourced material on the topic of the differences between the three shows. I'm sure professional media analysts/critics have far more insightful things to say than I do. — SMcCandlish [talk] [cont] ‹(-¿-)› 09:51, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Episode references

The references to the episodes need to be consistent. Currently, they are formatted in a few different ways. We should probably standardize them. Each episode reference should have the episode in quotes. I don't have time to do it now, just throwing it out there. One of us will get to it! --EmmSeeMusic 22:56, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

The music (not just The Who)

These shows are heavily pop-music-intensive, featuring works that are all over the map from material newly created for the show, to underground notables, to electronica club hits, to rock/pop/soul/R&B classics, but nothing of note is said at any of the three main CSI-franchise articles about the music (other than The Who's intro/outro snippets). This seems to be a glaring omission. The music is such an integral part of all three shows, especially in scenes showing the commissions of crimes, the "science stuff" in the lab (usually overlaid with some form of techno), and the close-in on the killer.

[Aside: For my own part, I want to know about the droning, intensely-building background theme used in two CSI:M season 6 episodes, including the end of the S06E21 season finale (Caine's shooting, while waiting for Kyle and his mom at the airport), that appears to be either a remix, remake or ripoff of the main theme from 28 Days Later and its sequel. I have that version, but I'd love to grab the CSI version as well, as it is less "guitar-fuzzy" and to me more plaintive and emotional.]

New season episodes with no citations

Perhaps someone can assist me here. There are episode lists for the new seasons of all the CSI shows (and also Law & Order) with summaries included and no citations aside from blogs and Twitter pages, which anyone can put up claiming they are a member of the production cast. I see these as violations of WP: Crystal, and think they should be removed. I would be more than happy to see an opinion from an admin - and if they do not agree, I will shut up about it. But truly, shouldn't there be better citations for these pages? Also, shouldn't we wait until a character actually shows up in the main credits before listing him/her and a description of them - especially with no citation than perhaps blogs/Twitter? Thank you. Duquesne's rank

  Unresolved
 – Duquesne's rank not sourceably determined yet.

Can anyone confirm Calleigh Duquesne's rank? Other contributers say that she is a lieutenant now (i.e., Horatio's rank). Is this true? If so, in what episode did her promotion take place? DreamroseTavua 20:38, 26 February 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, some person keeps "fixing" my edits re: Calleigh, insisting that she's now a SERGEANT!...only Rex Linn's character(Frank Tripp) is a sergeant now...Michaela92399 (talk) 02:42, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
Michaela, I just redid this again, after some person who thinks he's a die-hard fan keeps "insisting" that she's a SERGEANT!...I agree with you:only Frank Tripp is a sergeant, NOT Calleigh!
I'll keep watch on this page to make sure that Calleigh remains a CSI Level 3 and NOT a sergeant!...hope you don't mind...
Here you go...Baldwin91006 (talk) 20:41, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
I have just undid the "Detective Sergeant" edit again. The person who does this likely remembers when Caine was out of town and Calleigh filled in for him. At the time someone made a comment about whether she would be "Lt. Duquesne" soon. I believe the editers changing her rank think that meant she must have already been a sergeant - yet it only meant she was being teased by her co-workers about temporarily filling Caine's shoes. Bloo (talk) 02:03, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
If you see Season 6 first episode Rio Dan Cooper Brendan Fehr called her Lt.Duquesne. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alex_Caine (talkcontribs) 09:20, 1 February 2010 (UTC)
As explained above, he was referring to Caine being out of town and Calleigh being in charge. She has never even taken the test to be promoted to Sergeant. Come up with a real citation she is a Lt. Not just an interpretation based on a minor character's comment. Belle 76.193.50.197 (talk) 01:34, 15 March 2010 (UTC)
refering to USA federal law calling someone with higher or lower rank is crime and sometimes may take to high sentences. so you want to say that in a well known TV show they make this kind of mistakes???? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alex_Caine (talkcontribs) 11:18, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
The show takes a number of dramatic liberties with reality. Further, Cooper could have made an honest mistake, thinking she was promoted in Caine's absence, or he could have used it as a point of reference, saying to think about the responsibilities that the lieutenant who heads the department and not to think like she's just a detective. To use one address by another officer as evidence of a promotion is synthesis of a pretty strong degree. —C.Fred (talk) 14:34, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
hey man you just say that something could meant something. stop saying it. the only thing that we know is that he called her Lt. so she is a Lt. if you have something that proves she is not Lt. then bring it on. if in future reveald that she is not Lt. we can change the title. now please do not get involve in an edit conflict...Alex_Caine (talk) 19:43, 29 March 2010 (UTC)Alex_Caine
In the future, please slow down and re-read what you are posting before you post it. Your statement makes no sense. One character referring to Duquesne as a Lt. does not make her a Lt. When something happens on the show that officially establishes that she is a Lt., we can change it. Until then, in my opinion, her designation should stand as is.TheBigFish (talk) 02:21, 30 March 2010 (UTC)
pleas read other comments to.... i said its against the law to call someone with higher or lower rank according to federal law. they have never made such a amature mistake before.everything in this TV show have been writen by Expert writers belive me they wrote this sentence just to tell that she IS LT., i will stop reverting this if you show me just a small point that shows in this serie they have done somthing against the law or reality. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alex_Caine (talkcontribs) 12:45, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Three points. First, CSI: Miami is a work of fiction, and there are many items that are not given authentic real-world treatment for the sake of good television. (My sister could probably write a book about the things they do wrong from a lab science perspective.) Second, what federal law indicates that it is illegal to refer to a local authority per an incorrect rank? Finally, although citing lines from the show is valid sourcing, the preponderance of the evidence in lines from the show is that she is not a lieutenant, and trying to rationalize it based on outside items such as the alleged federal law about ranks is synthesis. —C.Fred (talk) 14:37, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Alex - In the episode you are referring to, Dan Cooper said to Calleigh "are we going to start calling you Lt DuQuesne now?" as she was the acting head of the lab while Caine was in Brazil. He did NOT actually call her Lieutenant. She has never been promoted, she never took the tests, and continuing to put in in edits does not make it true! Also, it is against American law to impersonate someone of another rank in the military, and I am not sure where you are getting your other information. Please stop changing the rank. I'm sorry, but you are not correct this. Trista 24.176.191.234 (talk) 20:00, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

Poor Video Quality

Does anyone know why the video quality of Miami is so poor compared to the original? Orange skin tones and virtually everything else in bright red, bright green or bright blue. It looks like is was shot on dated film which was then badly processed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.146.83.245 (talk) 21:20, 18 February 2010 (UTC)

Because that is the look they are going for. Please try to think. Do you think they looked at the video and said "Wow, that's effed up, but let's just go with it"? You have to use filters and jiggle color settings to get that. Please try to think. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.171.176.190 (talk) 23:36, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

Removal of Region 2 Half season DVD's Info

i just noticed that the info about the 2 part region 2 dvd releases (e.g. release dates) have been removed from the table, surely these coloumns should still be included but just left blank from series 7 onwards as the info is still valid for season before 7 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.12.74.181 (talk) 22:37, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

Ranks

Natalia, Walter, Jesse, etc. are all Detective, MDPD Guidelines states an Officer that does not wear a uniform is a Detective. Is there any opposition to me changing this? Jane Rizzoli (talk) 18:21, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

Intro

Shouldn't there be something in here about the show's distinctive intro (taking off sunglasses in the middle of a one-liner right before the song starts) and how popular and frequently parodied it is? If it's in the David Caruso article, it should definitely be here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.14.193.54 (talk) 17:14, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

UK airdates

Why do people always list the UK airdates of TV shows - who cares? It's an American series, only the U.S. airdates matter. Are we to list when it was broadcast in every country? 69.158.166.153 (talk) 01:54, 1 April 2012 (UTC)

Final Season

Mr Davejohnsan shall maybe take away his hands from the pot, when you don't have any reasons to delete the Final Season 10 and the release date! It is information about the release on: /www.tvshowsondvd.com, and their info is from the studio!!!Vuono (talk) 07:45, 27 June 2012 (UTC)

You didn't provide a reference; that was why I reverted your edit. Davejohnsan (talk) 15:59, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
Why have you NOT deleted the other seasons DVD release date, no reference on them either????!!!! Just stupid!! Vuono (talk) 07:38, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
The others have been released. The Season 10 DVD hasn't, and requires a reliable source as to its release date. BTW, its unlikely the studio provides DVD release dates to a commercial seller. Far more likely it comes from the company producing the DVD. --Drmargi (talk) 08:01, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
This is very clear info. Read!

The CSI Movie - Crisis

Shown on UK TV (29th June 2013 and 7th Aug 2013). This is actually 5-14 and 5-15 as a single episode and cut down to 1h18m (time without ads). No connection with the possible movie trailed by William Peterson. Shannock9 (talk) 10:57, 3 August 2013 (UTC)

The series, starring...

Hi. While I realize that Kim Delaney was, as you said, the "original female lead", her character was only present for the first 10 episodes of the first season. Adam Rodriguez was in the series from season to 10, 221 episodes total. As long as her role is listed in the cast/character section, I firmly believe that's enough attention drawn to her.

You mentioned the article reflects the whole history of the series. You're right, the article definitely should. But with Kim Delaney listed in the intro and not Adam Rodriguez, it puts more emphasis on the early few episodes and not on the series overall. 221 episodes for Rodriguez over 10 seasons and 10 episodes for Delaney over half a season = his role is much more significant to the series overall. Anyone who watches only season 2-10 would probably never even hear about her character.

You wrote that Rodriguez was a "supporting actor". And while that's true, whether someone is supporting or lead doesn't affect if they are "starring" on a series or not. He was one of the main people starring on the show throughout its run, which is what the intro should reflect, not whether someone was a "lead" or "supporting" actor - and especially not removing someone who was prominently featured, despite being supporting, for 10 years.

I'm going to remove the starring sentence from the intro for now. Please don't re-add it until you have replied to me here and we have resolved the disagreement. The sentence isn't extremely important to the intro, so it doesn't need to be re-added until we come to an agreement here in the talk page. LocalNet (talk) 11:23, 30 April 2016 (UTC)

Kim Delaney was the series lead for only ten episodes, but she was the series lead nonetheless. If you include Adam Rodriguez, you set a precedent that then merits the inclusion of Jonathan Togo, Khandi Alexander, etc. I'm happy with one of three compromises (1) "The series, starring David Caruso and Emily Procter", (2) "The series, starring David Caruso", or (3) "The series, starring David Caruso, Emily Procter, Kim Delaney, and Adam Rodriguez" --Unframboise (talk) 10:40, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
In that case, I suggest "The series, starring David Caruso". He is by far the most known person of the cast for his character in this series. Agreed? LocalNet (talk) 10:54, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
Definitely, nice doing business with you! --Unframboise (talk) 11:45, 1 May 2016 (UTC)

Errors in Story line

In Season 3, episode 19 where IRS agents are seizing assets it was stated that the IRS made a mistake (two decimal points) relating to life insurance collected on the man's wife which made the IRS attempt to seize assets of 1 million dollars. Life insurance payments are not taxable income which makes the story line not work. JeanineJoy (talk) 06:04, 30 August 2017 (UTC)

@JeanineJoy: Shows always take liberties with reality; I don't think this situation warrants a mention in the article. (Besides, interest on the life insurance payment is taxable income, even if the payment itself isn't.) —C.Fred (talk) 16:30, 30 August 2017 (UTC)

Eric Delko

I just noticed this page was deleted based on this discussion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Eric Delko. It was closed by ansh666 as a non-admin closer with only 3 responses. With such few votes this should have definitely been relisted and probably taken here to alert the users who might not follow that page but follow here.

The result seems a little odd to me considering how he was on the show as a main character for the entire run. Granted the number of external refs are small, I am surprised this resulted in a deletion vote. What does everyone else think? Perhaps this should be explored to reopen. - GalatzTalk 19:08, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
