Contradictory information

Why does it state that the lockdown is national then goes on to explain that there are lockdown ordinances per city? Also the text states that everyone is supposed to be at home except for work, then goes on to describe that people over 65 are allowed to go out? That doesn't make any sense.

What is the exact definition of a lock down????

National or nationwide refers to restrictions placed on international or intercity travel. People in general are allowed to go out for basic shopping (otherwise they would starve to death). Anecdotal entry

The text regarding that medical staff is sent to their death barehanded is very anecdotal, doesn't really fit an encyclopedia, more like a gossip magazine.

It is a direct quote of something said by a member of the medical staff. Discrepancies/potential errors

I think at this point in time (12 March 2020 23:43 local time) the columns for Bucharest and Hunedoara don't compute. Maybe removing comments about fixed discrepancies would be useful to keep the talk short and readable.

Right now (14 Mar 2020 13:31) there's a difference for Dolj between what the wikipedia page shows and what https://instnsp.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/5eced796595b4ee585bcdba03e30c127 says.

Cases 71 and 72, according to the linked information source, were previously quarantined. IMO this warrants a new value in the source of infection column ("previously quarantined" or "from quarantine" or something similar), or re-adding the dropped column which gave additional details. Why I think this is important: the number of confirmed cases with unknown source is relevant for the effectiveness of the isolation and quarantine measures for controlling the spread of the disease - it's an indication of the number of infection sources not yet identified. Previously quarantined or isolated persons do not qualify as not yet identified infection sources.

The ArcGIS map has inconsistencies itself. For example, Arad appears with 0 cases, Vrancea and Vaslui with 1, although the Ministry of Health hasn't confirmed any cases in these counties. The source on which the map is based sends us to the main page of the National Institute of Public Health and not to a specific statistic. Alexandru M. (talk) 08:13, 15 March 2020 (UTC)

Cases table

Columns "Source of infection" and "Origin of infection" are kind of redundant. I would keep only the "Origin of infection" and where is "Local transmition", instead of "N/A", I would put either text "Local" or Romanian-flag, plus the linked case number (eg, "Local (#4)"). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Durbalau (talk • contribs) 20:37, 14 March 2020 (UTC)

I agree with the "local + case" thing (instead of "n/a"), but that need to be explained to readers in a phrase in the beginning. That way we can get rid of the "Notes" column which overloads the whole table. The contacts of those diagnosed are more than enough. The super-spreader cases (the patient from Gerota, the woman from Hunedoara and the senator) are relevant and can be detailed in a separate section. Kin relationships, fines, criminal files or other such things are irrelevant and unnecessarily load the table which will soon become too long to read comfortably.

But keep both columns. The "Origin of infection" column was intended mainly for imported cases.

Maybe you should pot the number of tests performed...in the description before 'Timeline' or in one of the tables. How to depict new briefings graphically?

Given the way that the new briefings are coming, with aggregate ages and a confirmation of whether all cases were trackable or from quarantine, I wonder if there is a way to show these updates in a graph. The purpose would be to show readers whether we are having any community transmission, and to summarize trends.

Also I wonder if it is worthwhile to capture graphically the changes shown on the arcGIS map for each county's cases, quarantine and self-isolation totals? It is interesting to click on the arcGIS map provided by the Ministry of Health, but what I am mostly curious about is trends. Just brainstorming here, and thank you for reading this. I've just discovered a great source of information...if someone has time, every case could be tracked. If you go to the geo-spatial link (https://covid19.geo-spatial.org/dashboard/main), in the left side we can see the 'Cazuri confirmate pe judet' section. Click the attachment and an Google Docs Sheet will open. The data can be slightly different from the current data we have here (the case number can be different, for example), but I think someone could work with the information given there...or at least from now on. Add a section under 'Cases' called 'Romanians abroad' with details about romanians that have been found with the coronavirus in other countries and/or have died because of it.

Lethality by gender and age?

Status column in the cases table

I think the status column should be removed, as information regarding patient recovery is no longer accessible per patient, also a lot of the early patients, if not all the early patients, that have the "hospitalised" status, are most likely recovered.

Reversed percentages for May 24th data

Please note that the percentage for number of new cases for May 24th is actually the one listed for number of new deaths and viceversa. It should be +1.2% for number of new cases and +0.8% for number of new deaths.

As I've said above, there are 22165 (with new +166) in country, 1427 deaths (+17 new) and 15817 recoveries (+98). I did read from stirioficiale.ro (a Government-led website which offers official release). This Wikipedia page need to up-to-date.

Proposal of removal of max-height for the Romania medical cases template

If we were to remove the max-height specifier for the per-county table, we would get rid of rather annoying horizontal scrollbar. Either that, or maybe removal of the Deaths/Cases ratio. 15th of May 2020 marked the end of the State of Emergency and the beginning of the relaxation measures, under the State of Alert. Facemasks are still mandatory in public closed spaces and several protection measures have been adopted by the government to curb the pandemic. The protection measures include the limitation of movement such as social distancing measures in every shop and queues, the ban on entering the interior of the restaurants, as only the terraces are still open to clients. The restaurants and bars, as well as cinemas and clubs are completely inside a building are completely closed. All the transport vehicles are disinfected frequently

As of June 2020, the State of Alert has been prolonged for another month due to the resurgence of the virus, soon being followed by numerous negative records in virus cases. Most of the new cases are concentrated in Bucharest, Argeș and Brașov Counties. As of July the Romanian Government has passed a law regarding quarantine, allowing the government to put cities, towns and villages under quarantine if the zone specified meets the requirements of quarantining. The new law has also changed individual quarantining measures On 22th of July, the daily number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 1000, setting a worrying record for the country. The face masks have become mandatory in open air in cities with a high number of cases per a thousand inhabitants. In Brașov, face masks have become mandatory in temporary or permanent plazas and events as well as on the streets. The State of Alert is prolonged again by a month as of 16th of July. As of August, the country has continuously experienced a surge in cases, going as far as 1500 cases a day and as of September, the number of cases is stable, at around 1300 cases a day. The Romanian Government has opened restaurants, cinemas and theaters that were affected by the previous measures. Measures against the pandemic have also been modified to work within these spaces. As of 3 September, the cumulative number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 90.000.

Reasons why I deleted a sentence

Hey, Alexandru M., I hope you don't mind I have removed your proposition!

As of 7 November 2020, the 14-day case notification rate is 472. Moreover, according to an October ECDC report, Romania has the second highest death rate among EU/EEA countries and the UK, being surpassed only by the Czech Republic.

The article is actually from October, and we should focus on deaths / 1 million population, where Romania comes 28th. These rates that you posted fluctuate a lot and leave the impression that in Romania it would be the worst. People do not die in Romania because of the government that has kept the pandemic under control, but because they are old and have diseases. We already know this from the EU, and it is the result of communism. It also happens in the Czech Republic and Hungary. But generations are changing.

So I am proposing 2 objective options:

1. You keep the sentence but you update it often, adding additionally also the number of deaths in a population of 1 million (including ranking).

2. We do not make rankings at all and the public is free to search outside of Wikipedia. Eventually we add to External Links a few covid statistics sites.

After all, the infection rate matters, doesn't it? That is, the statistic that matters is the mortality per 1 million inhabitants. After all, it is clear that you can not make great cheese in the case of covid, people do not die because of the medical system. People die if they have comorbidities or not. Or if you no longer have beds at ATI. With that post we create confusion. The most correct would be to add mortality to a million, but I don't really see every page of the countries doing it. Oh, not at all. 😀 Actually, I think your position is correct. With the exception of Worldometer (which is listed in the 'External links' section), I couldn't find another source with the correct value of the death rate. The infection rate is updated daily by this website (but, as it states in the frontpage, "is a personal project and is not affiliated with any organization or official entity").
