The following is not stated in neutral terms, contains speculation and weasel words.

Stewart embarked on an affair with a woman named in court as Jennifer (a likely pseudonym) in the early 1990's, impregnating her five months after meeting. Stewart, a Phlembotomist at the Lake Saint Louis, Missouri Hospital, was deeply opposed to paying child support to a woman he barely knew for a child he didn't care about. His son (not named in any media reports) was born in 1991, and according to the prosecution, was injected with AIDS-tainted blood by his father, with the expectation that the boy would die soon after.

Conversely, the boy lived long enough for the doctors to notice that he suffered from the effects of AIDS. He was diagnosed in 1996 and an extensive investigation attempted to question every drug user and child abuser who might ever have come into contact with him. Police eventually determined that Stewart was the culprit, and had gathered enough evidence against him by April 1998 to arrest him on the charge of first degree assault.

Jeniffer claimed that Stewart had objected to paying her child support, and it was claimed in the December 1998 trial that this was Stewart's motive for murder. He had predicted that his son would die young. He pled not guilty, but was convicted and sentenced to life in prison at Potosi Correctional Center, Potosi, Missouri in 1999.

Possible murder charge edit

I have removed the sentence "If his son dies, Stewart could be tried for murder." as this surely requires discussion and citation. A quick read of AIDS#Prognosis suggests that proving death as a direct cause of blood injection may be extremely complicated. Labalius (talk) 23:02, 28 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
