Additional biographical material should be available edit

There should be a lot more out there about Bill Rigney. He was one of only four or five baseball players who were featured in Union Oil booklets in 1957 and 1958. Rigney was the subject of Booklet #20 issued in 1958 at a time he would have been the Manager of the San Francisco Giants.

The other baseball players who were featured in Union Oil booklets were Duke Snider, Bob Lemon and Red Schoendienst all who became members of the baseball hall of fame.

The front cover of each booklet distributed by Union Oil features a drawing of the subject. The booklets are numbered and were issued over several years beginning in 1957. These are 12-page pamphlets and are approximately 4" by 5 1/2". The set is subtitled "Family Sports Fun." Athletes from other fields included Bill Russell, YA Tittle, Pancho Gonzales, Bob Mathias and Bill Sharman. Apparently, this was primarily a Southern California promotion. http://marketplace.beckett.com/item/21/1957-59-union-oil-booklets-20-bill-rigney-bb-58_72186347 Komowkwa (talk) 06:48, 31 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Just watched an Orioles highlights game v. Oakland, from July 13, 1991, when four Orioles pitchers combined to pitch a no-hitter. Eric Show was the Oakland starter. Rigney & Greg Papa were the announcers. (For some reason, this "Orioles Classics" episode from 2006 featured the Oakland broadcasters, instead of the Orioles'.) 98.117.43.151 (talk) 03:07, 4 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
