Article Creation edit

This article is a potential split from the current Tampa Bay Rays article, as discussed here. Any assistance in making this ready for inclusion on its own is greatly appreciated. Sliver7 (talk) 15:23, 17 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Locations for Spring Training edit

  • There seems to be some contention about who was the first Spring team in St. Pete: the St. Louis Browns (see this St. Pete Times article), or the Boston Braves (see the Rays' history page). Can anyone find resources that clear this up? Edit: According to this press release from the Florida International Museum, it was St. Louis in 1914. Other sources (now cited in the article) reflect that, too. The Rays site must have been referring to Al Lang, specifically. Sliver7 (talk) 15:58, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • I'm fairly sure about the facilities used in St. Pete (Sunshine Park and Al Lang), but I've not yet found references to the stadiums used by Tampa's ST occupants prior to the Yankees' Legends/Steinbrenner Field site. Sliver7 (talk) 15:58, 23 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • I added tables to the Spring Training section for ST tenants in Clearwater, Dunedin, Tarpon Springs and Plant City. I'm proceeding under the presumption that the Tampa Bay Area refers strictly to Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando and Hillsborough. There are a lot more items to add if consensus determines that a broader definition of the area should be used; down into Manatee and Sarasota Counties, for example, would bring Bradenton, Sarasota, Ft. Myers, etc, under the purview of this article, which would also add a lot more work. Ditto for Polk/Lakeland. Sliver7 (talk) 14:14, 24 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
  • P.S. Anyone else out there? Sliver7 (talk) 14:14, 24 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

References and placement edit

I can't seem to get references/footnotes cited in-text like I'd like (so they link down to the references section at the end). Maybe I'm braindead or something. Any help with that? - Sliver7 (talk) 18:32, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
