Untitled edit

After contacting him regarding this article, Alex Munter has informed me that there are some factual errors in this article. He and I will be reviewing it, and I will post a photo of him, likely sometime this week. - RealGrouchy 03:16, 18 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

"He is organizing to run for Ottawa mayor in 2006." edit

I asked Mr. Munter if he could confirm, deny, or clarify this statement. While he did none, he acknowledged the inherent ambiguity of the statement's meaning. --RealGrouchy 17:37, 9 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

NPOV edit

I put a NPOV tag on the last section, because the way it is phrased seems to read like a promotional campaign flier. Dan Carkner 18:23, 26 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

I removed the bits of discussion on "regional fairness", as they mean nothing to anyone outside of the internal politics and are probably just rhetoric. I think that, and some style edits, improves the POV towards neutrality. Bearian 01:22, 24 April 2007 (UTC)Reply
I think at least something should be mentioned. Munter was essentially from Kanata, and there was a lot of buzz about how lots of infrastructure is built in the West end, and very little in the East end (for example, road connections are few in the East end). IIRC, Munter did promise some sort of balancing equation (either 50% or a balance against historical projects), presumably to attract voters in the East end who felt he would pay too much attention to the West end. Whether this is sufficiently important to be noted in the article now that the election has passed--that is another matter. --RealGrouchy 03:34, 24 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Selling of the Kanata Kourier edit

The article mentions twice that he sold it, and to different companies in each occurence. Which one was it? -- Earl Andrew - talk 22:39, 3 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

He sold it to Runge. Sun Media didn't exist at the time that Munter sold the paper. Skeezix1000 21:22, 6 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
In fact, just to clarify, Runge was eventually sold to Torstar. So, I'm really confused where the Sun Media reference came from.Skeezix1000 21:30, 6 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
The article says that he sold the paper to focus on his studies, but an August 16, 1989 Citizen article says that he sold it because of competition from the Kanata standard. It also says that he stayed on as publisher, nixing the school argument. I have updated the article and added reference to the Citizen article. --RealGrouchy 06:12, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

"Stalin" Comment edit

Someone deleted the "Stalin" comment because it wasn't referenced (yeah, like much else in the article is). When I viewed the article with Munter on 23 December 2005 (the same day I took the second photo in the article), he did not point that out as one of the innacuracies in the article. Nevertheless, I have added a reference, which I retrieved using online resources available to members of the Ottawa Public Library. --RealGrouchy 06:12, 13 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re: NPOV edit

Reviewing the 2006 Mayoral campaign platform section on behalf of WikiProject LGBT studies, I no longer see a problem with neutrality. It seems it previously read more like a "campaign flyer" as noted by an editor above, but does no longer.

If no one else sees a problem with this section, I'll remove the NPOV tag in a few (2-3) days. Thank you, — Madman bum and angel (talkdesk) 15:08, 15 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Alex Munter Charitable Foundation edit

I came across this foundation, apparently founded by Munter in 2003. Does anyone know enough about this to put in the bio? Tono-bungay (talk) 20:03, 10 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

ONDP edit

I noticed his party affiliation was Ontario New Democratic Party (NDP); however, membership in the NDP cannot be restricted provincially--he is a member of the NDP provincially and federally, so I removed the 'Ontario' part. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.122.115.81 (talk) 02:26, 14 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
