Battle of Los Angeles material sourced to "The Wanderling" edit

I removed material cited to a personal web site dealing in UFO conspiracy theories that claims Nozaki stood in a field many miles from LA and saw flashes in the distance (seems a stretch to call that "eyewitnessing" the LA event) as well as sighting some sort of alien craft. Feel free to re-add using a more WP:RS. - LuckyLouie (talk) 17:04, 23 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hmm. Ok, well, I happened upon that detail while seeking info about Nozaki's residency in Echo Park (which was easier to cite with RS's, by the way!), around both the Echo Park, California & Category:People from Echo Park pages that I'm working on. I don't remember a bit about an "alien" craft. It seemed pretty darn interesting, though I may not have time to track that down elsewhere given the other things I am juggling at this time. That article details an interview with Nozaki, though...and notes that Nozaki mentioned in the interview that he seldom spoke of either that or his internment. It seems to pertain to the very night that it happened, and in fact consisted of more than just flashes in the distance, but whatever it was flew right over him, according to the interviewer. Is there other good reason not to trust the source, by the way? Might be tough to source elsewhere, but I've not dug at all. Perhaps another editor will be engaged enough in these two articles to do the legwork on that. duff 03:01, 24 June 2011 (UTC)Reply
Hi Duff. You could always ask at reliable sources noticeboard if The Wanderling meets our RS criteria. I don't think it does. It appears to be some guy's personal musing about Zen with some UFO stories thrown in the mix. Considering the WP:REDFLAG extraordinary claims this guy is making (i.e. Nozaki privately confided to him that a UFO sighting inspired his production design for WoTW. Nozaki's LA Times obit cites a completely different inspiration: the shape of a manta ray) and the fact that they are totally unverifiable, there's more than a few reasons not to trust it.
