Conflicting information edit

Hello, folks. Two sections of the article appear to contradict each other. The discussion of The Smokers given in the "Portraits and Tronies" section expresses uncertainty as to the identities of the people in the painting. And yet, the discussion in the "Life" section (in the paragraph that starts "Early biographers ...") seems to brook no such uncertainty. I have no idea which of the two is correct.
