Schneller

edit

The article used to say that he was born "Shneler". I am guessing (and changed the page accordingly) that the correct spelling is probably Schneller, from the German word "schnell", meaning "quick", or "hurry" (when used as imperative). I am continuing my (educated) guessing that Hushi therefore translated "Schneller" to חושי, from the Hebrew imperative חוש, hurry up (remember the old song "חושו אחים חושו", "Hurry up, brothers, hurry up?"). If I could only find some source that varifies this guesswork, I want to add this to the article. And I'd also love to know at what point he translated his name. All is correct. The name was translated when he came to Palestine - in July 1920. ( page 19 in Zadok Eshel's book - "Abba Hushi".) Deror 20:36, 15 November 2005 (UTC)Reply

need sources

edit

Good that this page is growing, but no sources are cited. Where are you getting the info from? Also, I think some of the sections needed to be combined - there are too many short ones.--Gilabrand 12:48, 12 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

The info is a straight translation from the Hebrew wikipedia article. I agree that it needs sources, but there are very few on the Hebrew page (and its even a featured article over there!). I will look into it. There is a book listed at the bottom of the article...I will see if I can get a hold of it. Regarding the small sections, I agree that many should be combined. To me, the hard work is the translation, so I'd like to get it done, and then I will start merging and cleaning up. You really improved the article previously when I translated, so if you'd like to clean up the new parts, please do. -ReuvenkT C 07:08, 14 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Chushi abba.jpg

edit

Image:Chushi abba.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Start-class

edit

Why is this article start-class? Isn't it more than that? Renato (talk) 09:00, 24 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Without references, it cannot be upgraded. Please add as many as you can.--Gilabrand (talk) 09:45, 24 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nothing about the years after 1939!?!
