This article seems to be not correct, look f.e. at the final and compare with [1]. Jón + 23:09, 2 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps you are confused by the Challenge Round, which was in force at Wimbledon from 1877 to 1921. In 1900 S. H. Smith won the right to challenge the existing champion by winning the final against A. W. Gore 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. Then, in the Challenge Round, the 1899 champion, R. Doherty, beat Smith 6-8, 6-3, 6-1, 6-2. [1] This reference gives all the scores for the 1877 Men's Singles and 1884 Women's Singles, and all scores for the quarter finals, semi finals, finals and challenge rounds for all other years. I can contribute these, if required and if free of copyright, though I don't know how to do anything fancy in Wikipedia. 80.229.236.231 (talk) 23:00, 4 October 2010 (UTC) I see that itftennis.com no longer appears to list historic tournaments (certainly not as far back as 1900) Rmallett (talk) 01:33, 8 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
