The house was originally built in 1690 in Chester, Pennsylvania as the home of Swedish farmer, Andrew Hendrickson and his wife, Brigitta Morton, who were both born in the New Sweden colony. In 1958 the house was moved to the Church Street Historic District, which is on the National Register of Historic Places in Wilmington, Delaware (Bounded by Eighth, Locust, Seventh, and Church Sts.) The Hendrickson House sits next to Old Swede's Church, which is itself listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
