I hope this does not discourage you, this is actually a fairly common experience for newer editors. Please understand that any and all editing you decide to do moving forward is valuable. Snake.io is an online snake battle royale game originally developed by Amelos Interactive but Kooapps acquired the game in April 2016 and has continued its development since.[1] It was released on the App Store, Google Play Store, Apple Watch, Apple TV, Apple Arcade, Amazon, and Web.

Gameplay edit

The main objective of the game is to be the biggest snake in the server. A player has to start as a small snake, and aim to get bigger by eating pellets and defeating other snakes on the map. Snakes must not hit the wall or other snakes or else, they lose the game. Eating pellets alone makes the snake long at a slow pace, but by eating pellets off of a defeated snake makes the growing longer faster.

There are two joysticks placed on the left and right part of a player’s screen. The left one is used to dictate the movement of the snake. It serves as the navigator for the game and plays an important role in defining how fast a player responds to situations happening in the game. The right buttons  on the other hand can be pressed for a speed burst. It's called boost mode. Used to chase other snakes or quickly eat dropped pellets from defeated snakes.

During limited-time events, once the player reaches the top of the leaderboard, A boss level Snake will appear and chase the player. The goal of the event's boss level snake is to defeat the top player, the game also has a feature regarding how to defeat this boss snake. A player has to find a circled-shape area on the map and stay there at a given time. Once fulfilled, a special pellet will be fired to instantly defeat the boss snake.

Reception edit

Snake.io offers a different experience to players through its modern features and in-game live events. According to Gearburn "While the actual UI of the game is extremely simple, it makes up for this with its satisfyingly competitive gameplay. There's even a scoreboard, so you can visibly over take other players, which adds to the fun."[2]Naijaknowhow Media also stated that "Snake.io combines new trendy art with the oldest classic snake game mechanics."[3] Skins were also well-received as Mobvista stated that in-game skins are one of Snake.io key feature allowing player's to choose a different appearance.[4]

Awards edit

Snake.io was nominated at Level Up! KL 2023 for two award categories: Best Technology and Audience Choice Award.[5] Snake.io+ the Apple Arcade version that Kooapps released in May 2023[6] was also recognized by Apple as one of the their top apps and games on the app store for 2023.[7]
