They are the seventeenth-generation flagship iPhones, succeeding the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The devices were unveiled alongside the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus during the Apple Event at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, on September 12, 2023.[7][8] Pre-orders began on September 15, 2023, and the devices were made available to the general public on September 22, 2023.
