Evonne Cawley and Helen Gourlay were the defending champions.[1] Cawley did not compete. Gourlay, first-seeded, won the title together with fellow Australian Dianne Fromholtz in the final after defeating second-seeded Betsy Nagelsen and Kerry Reid.[1]
