This upper-level survey of the early American frontier, 1400-1850, explores comparative colonial conquests, histories of indigenous Americans, and ends with a close look at Removal. This mass deportation of Native Nations from the eastern half of the nation into Indian Territory is the foundational story of modern Oklahoma. The Wikipedia assignment, that first surveys what is not in Wikipedia around these topics and identifies articles that need rewriting or creating, will be a center of the course and will be about 40% of the course grade.
