Introduction Happy Fourth of July weekend and welcome to the second edition of the WP:PASH newsletter. This editon is featured on a separate page (similar to WP:USRD/NEWS) to expand readability. Several new segments were added to this issue, enjoy.
Project News Several maps were added to selected articles. More maps are expected to be uploaded. Pennsylvania Route 39 is undergoing a featured article candidacy. Your comments are needed to help the article pass. Interstate 476 is undergoing a peer review to prepare the article for a WP:FAC. Feedback is needed. Pennsylvania Route 222 is a good article nominee, please feel free to help the article. Nominations for next month's featured article are needed. See User:Myselfalso/PA Routes for the status of PA Routes 1 to 100. Create articles for all routes and expand existing articles. Reminder For mileposts, please contact JohnnyAlbert10. Featured Article Pennsylvania Route 39 was selected as this month's featured article. It is one of the six good articles from WP:PASH. Pennsylvania Route 39 (PA 39) is a 17.68 mi (28.45 km)-long, east-west, state highway in Dauphin County of the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It is designated from North Front Street in Susquehanna Township, to US 322 and US 422 in the Hummelstown/Hershey area. PA 39 is one of the few state routes to end on a non-numbered road. This exists because North Front Street is the decommissioned route for US 22/US 322 (as well as PA 14, US 11 and US 15).
Parkway Closures Starting June 29 and ending July 2, PennDOT will close eastbound I-376 (Penn-Lincoln Parkway), from 11 P.M. to 6 A.M., in Pittsburgh, Edgewood, and Swissvale. The closure will take place between the Squirrel Hill Tunnel entrance (exit 5) and the Edgewood-Swissvale interchange (exit 7). Exit 7 offramps will remain open during this procedure, while several other ramps will be closed. In addition to the closure, I-376 eastbound will have one lane available from exit 3 to exit 7. Authorities say, motorists can expect delays due to the impact the process will have on traffic. Sources: PennDOT Press Office
Safe 4th of July Pennsylvania authorities advice motorists to have a safe Independence Day and warns them that they will be conducting reckless driving and DUI efforts throughout the weekend. During last year's holiday weekend, 1,594 crashes occurred in Pennsylvania that caused 12 deaths. State and more then 150 local police will me monotoring the roads from July 1-7. The Smooth Operator enforcement wave will hunt down reckless driving, which can lead to several deaths. Sources: PennDOT Press Office
Member News On this issue, we selected our founder, Son as the member of the month. Son created the WP:PASH page on March 9 2006 and ever since, has been a huge member of the project. He created a very usefull sub-page and wrote the Pennsylvania Route 39 good article. Thank you Son, for your help to PASH. The following members joined the project. Mr. Matté joined on April 7 2007.
