June 7 edit

Uploaded by Paul venter (notify). Redundant to Image:Drakensburgmountains.jpg, which is on the Commons. Unfortunately the image name on the Commons is misspelled, but uploading an identical version of the photo to the English Wikipedia isn't the best way to solve that problem. —Bkell (talk) 01:33, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Uploaded by Itchybowwow (notify). Unused. Would suggest investigating uploader's other images as well, due to the licensing, as I'm not sure if they own copyright on those album covers (they could be a member of the band though, their talk page doesn't tell anything). If that's the case though, there is of course a vanity issue regarding the band article.- Drat (Talk) 11:33, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Uploaded by The strokes (notify). CV Uploader claims he took the photo and uploaded it under the public domain. However, search of Getty Images shows that the pictures were actually taken by Grant Halverson and are licensed to Getty Images. - Sue Anne 17:29, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The picture was taken at Rexall Place, in Edmonton, of a large poster in the concourse. I believe that it is fair to use, because it is sufficiently low-resolution, and there are no free alternatives. The strokes 18:17, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Taking a picture of a poster does not allow you to release the poster image into the public domain. Also, it's better to have an article with no images at all versus an article that has several images that breaks the law. Sue Anne 18:54, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I will change the license to
. Please do not demean my article by saying that it has "several images that break the law". All of the images except one were taken on the Rexall Place of a gallery they had set up for the playoffs. The one exception is when I travelled to Florida to watch the 2001 NHL entry draft, and took a picture of Hemsky with his jersey. I will change the licenses though, and thanks for pointing out my error The strokes 19:12, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Another user has informed me that fair use is usually kept to a minimum, and I would have a hard time justifying 4 in one article. So I have removed 2 of the 4 pictures in question, and am putting up rationale for the other two. If this is good with everyone, leave a yay or nay, so I can move on.
